Is this refreshed version worth buying if you've already got an older version?...hell yeah!
I actually already owned AC2, brotherhood and revelations as individual xbox360 games. Ordinarily I only buy 1 version of a game, but I much prefer the graphics of the newer releases, and the PS4 is my preferred console...so I decided to spend a little more money and see if the updated graphics were worth it.And I thoroughly recommend the upgrade!!- And if you're a newcomer and haven't bought any yet, then I would definitely recommend just straight out buying this remastered trio!Ezio is one of the most well-known and loved characters from the Assassin's universe, and I think that's primarily due to having 3 games which chronicle his development, as this really immerses you in his story and gives more continuity than the other AC games. Plus he's sarcastic and playful, with deep family loyalty and just plain fun to play. The overhaul work on the graphics is superb, and I would recommend buying this version to upgrade if you own the older version. I don't know if extra work was put in or if it's just a visual upgrade, but it feels like it plays a lot smoother as well. This could also be because of the switch in console, but in any case it is a definite improvement and I find I am enjoying the game play a lot more than I did on the old version.

getting old but still a classic
When it comes to older games there are 3 types of re-release. Remake (such as ratchet and clank. TR anniversary) which are based on an original but using ALL new programming and adding new elements. Then there are remasters, that have been painstaking rebuilt from the ground up FPS and detail massively improved. Ezio collection looks more like the 3rd however, a reissue. As good as it is (and we'll get to that) it is pretty clear that these are quite old titles. Cut scenes feel about the same as say God of War I+II did back on the PS3.That's not to say nothing's been done, some minor improvements have been done, but don't expect the same markup as say tomb Raider or return to Arkham.Anyhow with all that out of the way it is still worth mentioning that for you hard earned notes what you do get is the high point of the entire Assassins Creed History, including 2 videos covering both the beginning and the end of Ezio's story. Which for those that either haven't played the any Assassins game from 3 onwards or not even at all is essentially a power struggle between 2 factions and a old alien race. You start the adventure as barman Desmond Miles, who has been kidnapped by a company called Abstergo and made to relive his ancestors lives via a machine called the Animus. He is told of The conflict between Templar's (who want to rule over everything) and assassins, who believe in freedom. In AC2 he escapes Abstergo with the help of a worker there who explains that there is a race that came before that might be the real problem. and the makers of ancient artefacts known as 'Pieces of Eden'. He then agrees to go on a different Animus to help the assassins and becomes Ezio Auditorre De Firenzi an assassin from the Italian renaissance. Ezio's story starts when his father is wrongly accused of and executed for Treason . Ezio initially goes out for revenge but becomes a Master Assassin, and as the stories progress, also trains others and carries out various missions for the cause. The game features a variety of characters based on real life people (Leonardo Da Vinci is particularly special) Essentially. This is where Ubisoft took a few idea that didn't quite gel in AC1 and perfected them into a visually impressive open world Free-runner with the fictitious cities of History replaced but quite accurate incarnations of real places. To the uninitiated the free-running style can take a bit of getting used to but since most reading this have likely played at least one AC game in their lives. Generally though game-play is fluid and the Leap of faith /assassination never tire. Nor does the option to call on other trained assassins when a little extra help is needed (as in Brotherhood) You do get a few too many eavesdrop missions (it took a while for Ubisoft to realise they weren't very liked from the start) and at times Ezio might jump in the wrong direction, but he level of fun to be had is immense. Plus there are some excellent puzzles thrown in some are quite a challenge for those unwilling to check a guide.Plus all the games come on 1 disc making them very convenient. If you still have an old PS3/Xbox360 and the collection from that I would say that the upgrade is probably not worth it. But for those with fond memories but no longer own the old console, or if you've never had last gen at all, Ezio collection is quite a bit of bang for your buck

10/10 loved the ezio trillogy a would like to see the american assasin's creed games in a collection like this.
Fantastic. This remaster is great. Also of my favorite assassin ezio. I was a bit disappointed that Ac3, rogue and liberation were not included but there are 3 great games and remastered for the next generation consoles. To be fair none of the games have aged that badly. Ac2 looks great still. It was released 2008. So it's great to see it again but on the next generation machines. The three look nice and clear very crisp graphics. There is vast improvements in the characters and the scenery in game. Also they have included two of the movies Ac linage and Ac embers which is a nice addition. All dlc is included for all games. My advice to ubisoft would be to do the same with Ac3, rogue and liberation. And add all dlc to them. Maybe call it the American collection. It would be great. But this is a good start. I think ubisoft needs to go back to the direction of the older assassin's creeds in gameplay elements. This is recommended to die hard assassin's creed fans and people who haven't played the previous titles. So new fans should give this a go. 10/10. Very good.
