I've been gradually putting a HiFi system together with simple brief of good sound - don't break the bank. I have achieved this through buying used kit and some new old stock items. This cable fits well into my design brief as it is cheap, but works well. The cable is easy to cut and strip. It is not prone to twisting or tangling. It's quite thick so you will need to give thought to running in a non obvious manner (especially if bi-wiring) I'd like to talk about speaker wire in general. It's easy to fall in to the "more expensive wire is better for sound mindset" - especially if you seek advice from HiFi Bores. Now while more expensive wire MAY improve sound quality, you need to offset that against how much. Most people will be listening in an audio imperfect room - it will have hard surfaces, furniture, dogs and so on in it. Going for an expensive wire in a home environment may not give you a noticeable improvement, So don't worry that this wire is "cheap" it works well, is easy to work with.

Reviewed Sept 2024: Cable quality is a bit subjective, I've read articles in hifi magazines where cable costing £100 a metre is reviewed.. Personally, I take the approach that a heavy(ish) gauge that has a copper core has to be pretty decent. I bought this for hooking up rear speakers in my vehicle, and I this was a very good price with the convenience of Amazon. Ironically before I could use it, I was having a sort out, and I found a few lengths of speaker cable that probably would have done the job, but I decided to use this stuff anyhow. If you are used to the stock 'doorbell wire' cable for speakers, you may be in for a surprise because 16 gauge is quite thick, so if you are trying to thread it through or into tight spaces, this might need to be considered. In my case, I knew I had to pull out parts of the dashboard and drop the head lining, and using a cable threader, it was all good. The thicker core might also mean something in regards to what you're connecting the cable to.. If you're using a regular stereo and speakers, you're probably using banana plugs, so not an issue, but if you're connecting to car speakers and stereo, you might need to think through how you're going to do that. (I'm soldering as much as I can, but if you're planning on using the screw/block type connectors would probably need to be a bit bigger). Once connected, does the better gauge make a difference? I'm not sure, but it sure makes me feel better using it. This is the first time I've used the Amazon branded stuff, last time I bought a spool off evil pay, and it was fine, just took 2 weeks to arrive. I'd be looking at this stuff next time I need some.

Another great AmazonBasics product. These really make a difference! I was looking for a high quality speaker wire to set up my new 5.1 system - so obviously you want something that enhances the sounds rather than limits it. The packaging is super effective, see the pictures. Easy to open and to handle. The wire itself is easy to work with, it is soft enough to go round edges. The plastic cover is quite easy to strip down with a knife so you can work with the wire underneath and connect it to your speakers. 30m or 100ft is really enough - at least for me and my circa 20m2 lounge for 5 speakers. And most important - the sounds is really amazing. It depends on your system of course, but these wires seem to send the sound straight through without punching it down in terms of less bass etc. A rich, voluminous sounds. Get this if you want a decent, high quality speaker wire for a really good price. Nothing to lose really! Hope you enjoyed my review.

Really good cable! Quality is really good and the copper cable ends don’t break off. Sound quality is also very good and I noticed a difference compared to my old wires

I was adding 6 SONOS speakers and a SONOS Hub Controller to a larger ceiling area in a recent home refurb but sadly the amount of proprietary cable SONOS provide in their 6 Speaker Kit is just not enough to allow all ceiling speaker to be comfortably wired. So as I guessed we could end up short, I read the specification and reviews on this product and ordered a roll of this and sure enough we ended up needing a few metres as the SONOS supply only comfortably wired 5 of the 6 speakers. So our Electrician used this Amazon Basics Speaker wire to wire up the Speaker nearest to the SONOS Hub Controller and with fingers crossed, we did a system check and it worked spot on without any noticeable sound depreciation. For me, this did exactly what I wanted from it and it has been used and running for some months now with zero issues. I would highly recommend this cable if you need some back up.

Ho comprato questo cavo Amazon Basics per collegare i miei altoparlanti e devo dire che ha fatto un ottimo lavoro. La lunghezza di 30,48 metri è perfetta per impianti audio anche di grosse dimensioni, quindi non ho avuto problemi a coprire tutta la stanza senza dover ccreare giunzioni con altri cavi. Il calibro 16 è abbastanza spesso per garantire una buona qualità del suono, riducendo al minimo le interferenze e assicurando una trasmissione chiara e stabile. La qualità del materiale è buona, la guaina è resistente e il cavo sembra davvero durare nel tempo. La cosa che apprezzo di più è che è un cavo che fa il suo lavoro senza troppi fronzoli, è semplice ma fa esattamente quello che promette. Non ci sono problemi di surriscaldamento o distorsioni, il suono è sempre nitido e pulito. Se hai bisogno di un cavo lungo e affidabile per il tuo impianto audio, questo di Amazon Basics è sicuramente un acquisto che vale la pena. PS: Penso sia superfluo ma è meglio specificare, la recensione è esclusivamente personale e non ho utilizzato il cavo per un impianto professionale, so bene che per alcuni prodotti è necessario acquistare dei cavi di altra fattura e caratura, io l ho utilizzato per un impianto casalingo per il quale avevo la necessità di spostare le casse e il cavo che avevo era troppo corto.

Used it to extend my sony sa-d100 speakers. Gauge is much thick, compared to the wires used, so you have to increase the hole in the speaker back, or cut the existing wire in between and extend. Overall the wire quality is good, and I didn't find a better wire for speakers. Maybe I could have looked for smaller guage. Soldered the wire in speakers and joined the other part with the existing wire. Do not think of placing it in connector, it won't fit. Sound is great, didn't notice a y distortion.
