A superbly made and very high quality piece of kit. A joy to use and tidies up a cluttered space near the bed. It is very deep and used a 10mm Backbox 2G 10mm spacer. If installing this 2 gang USB socket, you need to be careful of the way that wires enter the back box. For example if fitting upstairs (in a bedroom for example), the ring main wires are likely to enter in the middle along the bottom, there is very little space because the USB power bulge on the back of the MK socket is in this area. Careful routing of wires is required as a result, keeping them flat to the surface of the back box. Top/side entry is no problem, there is plenty of room.I heard horror stories of people being electrocuted by low cost & dodgy USB power supplies - I bought MK because I didn't want to take any chances. Powering a phone for example then using headphones whilst plugged in can put you at risk if you use a cheapo nasty USB power socket!

Bought a couple of these for our house renovation as the other plugs were all standard MK sockets so they would match.They work as described but there are a few points worth noting:1. The USB ports are 'always on' and do not have an independent on/ off switch.2. The backbox for these needs to be at least 25mm which in itself will be a tight fit. 35mm would be sufficient.3. They are quite expensive compared to other sockets that effectively do the same thing. They may be of a slightly higher quality but in my opinion the price is simply extortionate.Overall a good product as long as you are aware of it's shortcomings.

Fits nicely, works well, and being MK I'm more confident in it than some of the cheaper Chinese counterparts.Feels as solid as a normal MK double-socket but just happens to have 2 USB ports for charging. Ports seems quite powerful and charge devices quite quickly.Doesn't need masses of depth in your backbox, either.

This is a great socket. Allows me to charge my phone and kindle whilst also having my clock and electric blanket plugged in next to my bed. Much more convenient than plug-in adaptors. The usual MK high quality build.

Looks the business, just doesn't actually take a UK plug. Purchased this looking forward to add usb power connections and on first inspection it is clearly a well made product. Sadly it both three pin sockets are too narrow to take the thickness of standard uk plugs. More use now as a tea coaster.

These sockets are a genius idea. They allow 2 USB devices to be plugged in as well as having the sockets free. I keep both my iphone and ipad permanently plugged into these. The ipad charges fine and its much neater than having a large adapter sticking out the wall.I have also used them in other areas of my home. A lot of modern devices now come with a USB power cable (e.g. Nest) so can be plugged straight into this without using the plug adapter.MK range of sockets are the smartest looking. All the terminals are on the top so they are very easy to wire up. They will accomadate 2x4mm cables easily if your running a heavy ring main.

It works okay, but it doesn't charge as fast as the charger that was supplied with my tablet. The rear of the socket is also quite deep and may not fit some back boxes.

bought this to free up socket space from phone chargers and have found it a neat and practical option. be aware that this outlet has a deeper back than a standard socket outlet, therefore a 32mm depth back box is required for this item. I bought it to replace a standard double socket outlet which was mounted on a standard 20mm back box, therefore had to change the back box as well
