spring loaded door closer
Works very well, sturdy and adjustable spring strength

Good piece of kit, but it has its quirks to install
Key things to watch out for:1) Unless your door has a 25mm hollow inside, you will need a 170cm+ long 25mm flat wood bit. Screwfix do one for just over a fiver.2) The screws which come with it are worthless, use some of your own.3) Be careful not to reduce the tension too far. If the screw fitting at the far end of the gadget comes out it is a pain to sort.4) Use a claw hammer to separate the two plates.5) Depending on how strong the mechanism is on the door handle, you might need a trip catch to get it to close.

Good quality but does it meet current CE marking regs?
Good product but have been given advice that since this product is not CE/Certifire marked it may not technically be suitable for fire doors. Would be good to get formal notification on packaging that it is indeed okay to use in UK for half hour door. Whilst (for patriotic reasons) I generally ignore any EU regulation, (and the product is clearly up to the job), I do need to get past building control

Bin the screws
Good strong product, but it isn’t easy to install. But whatever you do, don’t even think of using the supplied screws. One of the supplied screws simply snapped off whilst tightening even after putting a pilot hole in and hardly any force. Now I have only 3 screws in the door side ( 3 of my own and the other snapped off unable to be extracted without chewing up the door.

Excellent door closer
Just fitted this to our internal kitchen door to stop the cat wandering into the rest of teh house each time someone enters or leaves the room. There are two challenges to fitting - drilling the long hole to fit the unit - I purchased a Silverline 25mm extra long flat bit at the same time - and separating the door plate from the anchor (frame) plate. The instructiosns in the box are fine. Rotating the anchor plate through 90 degrees enables you to get a grip on it. An adjustable spanner enables you to lever the plates apart and then insert a claw hammer or similar curved instrument to open a gap and slip in the supplied temporary fixing clip so you can then screw the anchor plate into the frame. The spring is very strong; I had to unwind the anchor plate 20 turns to stop the door slamming into the frame when closing, so I suspect the closer would even work on a heavy front door. Overall very pleased and would strongly recommend.

It works...but do NOT be fooled by the phrase "easy to install"
In terms of closing a door successfully this item is fine, it has adequate strength to close a relatively light door to almost closed. The reason I have given it only 3 stars is because it states "easy to install". Now I am not a DIY expert but I am also not remotely useless, and this is easy to install in the same way that Trump is a qualified and competent president. For example "lever the plates apart with a claw hammer..." doesn't do justice to the difficulty of doing this...that the chain does not fit between the two claws, that the spring so strong that separating the plates is extremely hard, that the situation you may need to use the claw hammer in might make it impossible to get the tool in place. It does not indicate that in many cases you will need to remove the door in order to drill the correct hole and then re-hang the door. It does not indicate that once the spring is in the door it is nearly impossible to line up the placement for the anchor plate because when it is in line THE DOOR IS CLOSED. And please note, you cannot follow the written instruction to "close the door and see the mark left by the plate" because the plate has a protruding clip so it does not make contact with the frame. So in conclusion, it will shut the door but you will need blood sweat and tears (I genuinely bled during installation) to get it to do so.

Neat and unobtrusive
This is really neat and works well, I did have to get a carpenter to fit it for me, but was well worth it, the door now shuts perfectly on its own.
