Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive (64 MB Cache SATA 6 GB/s up to 180 MB/s)

I was a little cautious having read a couple of slightly negative reviews but I need not have been concerned. The drive was not initially seen by Windows 10 but after a little introduction it was fine. I carried out a surface check and the drive passed 100%. After partitioning into 2, 2TB drives I have loaded it up as a windows backup drive and a photo storage drive. All very smoothly done and no issues. Very pleased. I may now buy another 2TB drive to replace the ageing system drive. Good price for a good sized drive. All I need to do now is see how it lasts.

Great storage and no issues after using this for about 4 months (unlike previous Seagate disks I've used). It can get very audible during boot, defrag or if running jobs/apps with heavy reads/rights. As advice though, if you're using this in a desktop and copying a lot of data too it you'll find it's about 95% fragmented after copying - a boot-time defrag is then needed and with the 3-4TB I copied to it that took all night and most of the next day, with further defrags still needed after. Doing this reduced some (but far from all) of the load noises which were obviously from the need to read/write to too many disparate segments. Hope this helps someone!

06/10/25, Hard Drive failed after 7 months of use, and I requested a refund which I am told is under way.

It stores ALL of my games on Steam! Loading times are negligibly slower than an SSD, to the point where it's pretty much useless storing your games on an SSD which is more expensive per GB. Of course it's a hard drive and it has its limitations. If you intent to use this with tasks that require frequent read/writes of small data it can be very slow. I would recommend a hard drive for its cheap price per GB and large capacity. I recommend using it as a secondary drive, to accompany a faster medium that holds Windows and other small software. But... 3TB for this price is great and it's reliable.

Needed some more storage and I've been using seagate for years so picked this up for a good price. The drive is a bit thinner then my last one but still the same excellent quality and decent speed for a mechanical drive. Ticked all of the boxes for me. Arrived in an anti static bag inside a padded envelope which was enough to protect it. Been using it a few months now and it's running well with no issues.

Great reliable drive. I've got two and have never had any issues with noise, temperature, or even corruption. The speed is really good for a mechanical drive and holds out at a solid rates, with an average read and write speed of around 200 MB/s i would say this is great value for money!

Ordered this drive as I was running out of space on my home PC. The first drive arrived but my system would not recognise it. After much fiddling about and testing I found the new drive was not spinning up. I sent the defective drive back via Doodle and recevied a replacement next day. This one works perfactly and was easy to install and format. Great customer service from this supplier!

Ordered two of the Seagate 2TB Barracuda Pro's from 3rd party M-X-C Tech. Got a great deal at $113 each and no tax, with free shipping by FedEx. Saved $49 over Prime price for both. I received in 4 days which was great. Items were well packed. I used my new Spinido dual docking station with clone function ($35) to copy two storage drives. It worked flawlessly. Dock also works with SSD/HDD combos, and standalone cloning. Benchmarked both hard drives and read/write was fastest of any drive I have purchased. I will probably buy one more soon and replace my main drive (Firecuda Hybrid) which is fast, but the Barracuda Pro's are faster. I'll then use the Firecuda as a backup drive with the docking station. I did a lot of research and it was between buying these and the WD Black drives. I was seeing many refurbished WD Black drives which was a red flag. Also, reviews from loyal WD buyers switching to Barracuda Pro in recent times due to problems. I considered getting just one 4TB or 6TB Barracuda Pro, but there were occasional problems with these size drives, and didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Anyway, drives are very fast and quiet. I am very satisfied!

I just got my hard drive a few days ago, but it's working like a champ. One thing to note, you will most likely have to initialize and format it for it to be read by your OS if you're using Windows. This is done through the partition manager, which in Win 10, when you launch it, it will automatically pop up with a window stating this hard drive needs to be initialized. You also have the option of formatting the hard drive through the classic format, or the newer format which supports over 2tb in Windows 10. I do not believe the support for higher than 2tb for an internal hdd is supported in earlier versions of Windows, but this is my first 2tb internal drive, so I am not 100% sure. Speeds are definitely faster than my WD Blue drive, but not quite as fast as my primary SSD with the OS on it. I normally have 1 game installed on the SSD, but with this installed, I no longer want to do that. I may be a bit old fashioned, but I prefer having a large buffer on the primary drive for pagefiles :) Anyway, Seagate makes quality products, and you will not be disappointed with this. I do think a lot of the reviews talking about DOA drives are from less tech savvy people who did not initialize and format, as I described above. I don't know for certain, though. Another note: The drive comes in a smaller package with bumpers, wrapped in an anti-static bag. It looks like an OEM drive, but it DOES come with a warranty, for those curious. IIRC it's a 2 year warranty :) Hope this helps! -CymTyr
