Remy's role as the sole female voice of the Terror Squad (TS) has already propelled her to the spotlight. In 2004, Remy's smooth, witty flow on the TS single 'Lean Back' helped make the song the summer anthem that had everyone from club DJs to radio stations dropping the song hourly. After hitting stores with the TS album True Story, Remy Ma and the group went on to be nominated for a 2005 Grammy nomination - making her the only female to be nominated for a Grammy in that year's ceremony. Universal. 2006.

My Girl!
People are always surprised when they hear this CD. My son was even shocked when he heard it...They don't expect this from Remy.Very hot cd and for those that do not like the explicit lyrics, just buy the clean version like I did.....sit back and get ready for some hot tracks. My favorite off the cd is Conceited.

There's nothing about Remy! (2 and 1/2 stars)
On the real when I first heard Remy on Big Pun's Yeaahh Baby album, I thought she was cool plus I heard some underground stuff of hers that wasnt bad. But the difference between the person I heard on Yeaah Baby and the one I'm hearing on this album is the one on Pun's posthumous album had potential, this person right here is just flat out lazy. Listen to the singles she released(Conceited, Whuteva and Feels So Good). Weak! The Good: She spits some decent bars on She's Gone and the David Banner-assisted I'm. She spits well over a sinister beat on Bilingual(which feautures Ivy Queen). Even though the morbid s*** she was saying on that track would make Eminem blush she put effort into it. On What's Going On(featuring Keyshia Cole), Remy talks about being pregnant and the stress she went through and Keyshia Cole wasnt too shabby on the chorus. Still is another track where tells stories of her problems with her baby father, her mother and stepfather. What's Going On and Still are the best songs on the album because they are something different from the norm that she gives you throughout the album. Honorable Mention: Thug Love(I could have sworn Lil Kim and Twista had a song by the same title) featuring Big Pun(RIP) and Guilty. The Bad: Tight is a certified snoozer. Even though the beat provided by Cool and Dre was nice, Remy's lyrics and that hook leave something to be desired. Crazy is another snoozer but this time the beat is just as weak as Remy's rhyming. Ne-Yo provides a good chorus for Feels So Good and the beat was fairly decent but Remy made the song weak with her incessant droning. Her first single Whuteva was doodoo, her rhymes on the track were lazy and lines like /Terror Squad aint Brady Bunch/ and I aint Marsha/ make every claim that she is the best thing since sliced bread seem laughable. The Ugly: Conceited is the worst track on the album! The corny beat provided by Scott Storch, the infantile lyrics provided by Remy and why does this track sound like a female version of Right Said Fred's I'm Too Sexy(Im too sexy for my shirt anyone?)? Conceited is twice as corny as I'm Too Sexy. Lights, Camera, Action is another throwaway track with stale commercial-type production and lazy lyrics. Secret Location takes the number two spot as the worst tracks on the album. Boring coke rhymes over a rinky-dinky beat. Priceless.Bottom Line: File Remy Ma's There's Something About Remy under rightfully slept-on albums. Besides the songs I mentioned in the good section, she doesnt offer much but lazy rapping over decent beats. How many times does she mention wearing Pink Tims in one song? How many times does she mention a basement with a stripper pole in it throughout the album? Why all the hype around her when she doesnt sound as good as she did on Pun's last album or on her underground stuff? When I first heard her early s*** I thought she was was tight but after hearing this album and that garbage a** Terror Squad True Story album I seriously doubt that she wrote those rhymes. She's conceited, she has no reason!

There's Something About Remy by Remy Ma
Remy Ma is the first lady of the Terror Squad, and with Lil' Kim incarcerated and Foxy Brown announcing her retirement, Remy may be the future of female rap. We've been waiting for 8 years for a Charli Baltimore solo album, and Trina, Angie Martinez and the others don't have the skills to step up. Remy shows a great deal of potential on her debut solo album, a major improvement from her material turned in on the Terror Squad's disappointing album True Story. There's Something About Remy still lacks so much that comparing her to Foxy & Kim is unfair to them."She's Gone" & "Lights, Camera, Action" start the album off strong. "Tight" with Fat Joe is hit or miss and the fact that "Whatever" is the censored is too irritating to get past. Thats a damn shame too, because that track was fire. "Conceited" is both the best and worst thing about Remy. She honestly believes she is too good, which is the reason why her album lacks hunger. You hear her on Terror Squad's "Yeah Yeah Yeah", and on DJ Kayslay's "Seven Deadly Sins" and you fiend for her. That delivery, those lyrics, and then it seems as if she gives up. "Conceited" will unquestionably be her biggest radio hit and possibly the only thing that can fuel sales of this album. The David Banner produced "I'm", the Big Pun collaboration "Thug Love" and "Secret Location" set off a string of three great tracks, but the pace is quickly broken down by two pointless skits. Inbetween those skits though is another great track, "BiLingual" that would have been so much stronger had the Ivy Queen verse been left off and her vocals reduced to the hook. "Guilty" and "Crazy" are both hit or miss."What's Goin' On" featuring Keyshia Cole is incredible, mostly because of Cole's emotional ad-libbing, but the track sets the pace for "Still the Same", a ballad about the hard-ships of her life, that for some reason was chosen over "My Life" by her label, just another of many bad decisions when the final version of this album was submitted.Overall Remy has talent but she has a long way to go before she can truly set up camp at the top. Besides the fact that she is here and there with her delivery, she is re-using way to much of her own material for a brand new artist. Recycled rhymes are the norm in hip hop, but not on an artist's first release. Hell she only had a few verses on the True Story album. When all is said and done though, I will be checking for Remy in the future.

A great hip hop/pop record
This is a great record! Highpoints are Whuteva and Conceited but many of the songs are killer. Infact there is only one track I skip past when I listen to this. Mine is a clean version, though and that bugs me, there is a silence every time there is a cuss word. Try to find the unedited version. But the music is killer
