Quality denitrification!
I haven’t owned an aquarium for all that long, and like many beginners, I neglected to do my research first. Unfortunately the staff at the local pet supermarket didn’t advise me about nitrates, cycling, testing, or any of the other fairly essential things you need when keeping fish.I now have all of the essentials, but only through trial and error and sadly, a few dead fish.If you’re going to keep fish in a tank you need to understand that fish poop, and fish food and poop rot. When they rot, they give off ammonium. Ammonium is poisonous. When enough ‘good’ bacteria develop, they turn this into nitrate and nitrite (also toxic, but slightly less so). This can be managed by further bacterial development, but also through regular water changes and chemical intervention. This product contains a biological component which helps in the denitrification process. It’s a gritty product, suspended in a milky gel. I shalln’t put here quite what it looks like, but you can imagine! As for the nitrates/nitrites, this isn’t an overnight fix, but in addition to other products I have bought, it seems to be doing the right thing.I happily paid full price for this product, and believe it represents excellent value when compared to the cost of much smaller bottles from the shops. It is also dirt cheap compared to re-stocking your tank if your fish all die off.Like I say, I’m a beginner, but if I can help with any questions, please leave them in the comments, and/or use the voting buttons. Thanks for reading.

Very good product
This product came 1 day after ordering and was very well packaged as per usual for many/most items bought from Amazon. The product it's self is in those handy sized bottles that 'Tetra' put the majority of there products in. The dosing cap is a great idea. . .Though to small for larger aquariums.I thought i would give this product a try, as i have a constant battle with high quantities of algae from the water in my area being so hard & alkaline.. Around 8-6-9 on the Ph scale. and have never had any problems with 'Tetra' products in the past..I placed the required amount in my main 340l display tank this morning. But with displacement from rock is holding around about 240l.The product looks a little like something else in water... hahahahaha, but in a short space of time, 2-5 minutes, disperses through the tank in flakes/clumps and the particulates sinks to the bottom of the tank. With having live coral sand (white) the 'Nitrate-Minus' can not be seen. . I am sure you would see it if you have a darker aggregate.Doing this dose, once a week as directed on the bottle i know will help control the 'Nitrate' levels, which with in the hour of being placed in my tank, has reduced the Nitrate count from 4.2 to 0.6. So in conjunction with regular water changes...(which is a must) regardless of any treatments you may use, i KNOW will reduce the algae problems on the glass. The fish had no interest in the product as it dispersed through the tank, and certainly do not appear to be effected by this.. but all in all, so far i am very happy with the 'Nitrate Minus', and would tell anyone who has high levels of nitrate...(far more than i have) to give it a try... I would imagine that if i test the water tonight, my nitrate levels would be zero..So, my opinion is that it is highly advised to use this, in conjunction with the needed and usual aquarium husbandry tasks such as regular water changes/aggregate cleaning/filter cleaning etc etc etc..I am anticipating my sump/refuge plants to slow down in growth now also with highly reduced Nitrate levels, with the exception of the red mangroves, which grow slowly anyway..Give it a try. :)Daz

Very Mediocre Results At Best !
Hi I have been using this product for several months now, trying to control constant Nitrate levels well above 40 ppm. I have tried everything, apart from live plants to bring it down. I gave Nitraminus ago and initially I had some success with it and managed to reduce the Nitrate levels to 20 ppm but not lower, no matter what I tried. This is why I have given it 3 stars. I have now given up on it because I am now using Nitrzorb and this did the same trick within two weeks, reduceing it to 20ppm and I am now getting better results, about 10 ppm. Nitrzorb is more expensive at first but it's a lot cheaper in the long run, because I have purchased Several bottles of Nitraminus to achieve mediocre results over a very long time. I therefore wish I tried Nitrzorb sooner!
