My cats love it
Okay this may be human grade Valerian root for making teas and stuff but I got it for my cats. They love the stuff and if you buy it from a specialist pet supplier they charge about £5 for a tiny bag. This is a big bag which is going to last them a loonnnggg time for a fraction of the cost of buying it from a pet shop. So in terms of value it's excellent. If you haven't used valerian before then be prepared for the smell - it's like a mix of month horse manure and wet trainers! The smell can escape the bag too so I pour mine into an air tight container which keeps it fresh and keeps the smell away when it isnt in use.Using with cats - my cats get about 1/2 teaspoon sprinkled on the floor - this is plenty if you give them too much they will sleep (more than usual) and it's not good for them.Unlike catnip this stuff sets them off acting like their nuts for about 20-30 mins - they can get a bit aggressive in their enjoyment of it - think rolling around on their backs, rubbing their faces along it, licking it, and then trying to grab your hand/the bag (another reason for the air tight container) etc if you leave them with the bag they will destroy the bag to get it.Once the initial craziness is over they then just chill out and are calm. It's great to use to calm them before you take them in the car or if there is going to be changes at home/close to firework night etc.Just to note even if it looks like the valerian has gone and you can no longer smell it you will find the cats returning for a few days to the spot where it was on the floor (even if you have hoovered) so you really need to wash the floor with soap to get rid of it completely.

Wonderful relaxing tonic and natural sleep aid (if you can stand the smell!!)
Great quality product and excellent value for money. The only downside is the smell, like old smelly washing though I've learnt my cats go bonkers for it, it's like catnip to them!! I've decanted the bag into two sealed glass jars but the smell does seem to creep out a bit still - I put a sticky air freshener in the cupboard which seems to eliminates this. Great relaxant and natural sleep aid, best to take well before bed otherwise you may struggle to get up in the morning!! A little goes a long way - you don't need much to make the perfect cup.

Make sure you have an airtight container as this stuff stinks
This stuff stinks so bad!It works as tea and doesn't taste as bad as it smells but is a lot stronger than tea bags containing valerian root. It helps you get to sleep sooner.Fun fact though- it can be used to regulate menstruation and can trigger a period when you start drinking it. But reduces cramps/pain associated too.Cats also really love the smell and it has a calming influence on them after they roll around with it for a while- I put a little in a toy for mine after he nearly ripped the bag open taking it away from me when I got the delivery

My cats are off their tits
First of all, I could smell it as the amazon guy approached. Then I opened it and the scent went everywhere. Before bed I opened the bag, made a tea. All my cats are off their tits rolling around the floor high as a kite.I brewed it for 14 mins (1 teaspoon for a mug) Taste / texture was hard to explain. It began to become very hard to think clearly, its as if I didn't need to think/ overthink. I just did things. I think it was a clarity I've not really experienced. When I touched my head to the pillow an hour after or so I fell straight to sleep.Very amazing stuff, definitely going to find a way to improve the method of use. I found as a tea the texture/ taste was interesting, not bad not good. Abit like treesap and chicken stock they dont go together but its not the worst thing in the world but it just doesn't taste like any one thing that goes well together. I'll try turning one into a hotchocholate, see how that goes. I'll probably steep the leaves in cold milk for 20 minutes then remove, add hot chocolate powder then steam it like normal. Perhaps this will do?Will try it anyway. I'll definitely find a way to use this. The experience with it has been positive.

Contains grit - but effective and genuine
It is valerian root and genuine but even filtered through a strainer twice there is still grit in the tea, really unpleasant, have to finish the cup with 1/5 left over. It would be better if the roots were a bit thicker I guess. As you get to the bottom of the bag it becomes a lot more gritty.

Very strong....be careful only small amount needed
Very strong product for people unfamiliar with herbal products. Try only 1/4 teaspoon for a cup of tea to help you relax when trying this product initially - people will react differently to herbal products. This is very large bag and so unless you plan to share with friends you might find yourself wondering what to do with it - you may consider purchasing a smaller quantity if you plan to make tea. It does smell very strong so you might consider pouring contents into a number of large glass jars to store. May help muscle tension e.g. sciatica related symptoms however not advised to be used in conjunction with other strong meds.

Hmm...
I've just thrown away £11.36. Literally. As in put the Valerian root that arrived yesterday afternoon in the rubbish bin. I like valerian tea...I drink it... But the nearest equivalent to THIS (yes I realise it isn't valerian tea) in smell is really bad foot odour.I had it in a clip-lock food container, tightly sealed. I came down this morning and the kitchen smelt of this product. I made it last night and my wife, who was in bed, complained about the smell of me making it in the kitchen - and I live in a large house, so she was quite a way away and on a different level. It may have helped relax me but I have a thumping headache.I bought it as a cheaper alternative to the teabags. Turned out to be a really expensive mistake.
