The Solar System (Usborne Beginners): 1

Our daughter will be learning about space and space exploration this term. She complains that as we have been inundating her with history knowledge and facts her natural sciences and space knowledge is a bit more limited, which is fair enough. So this book was shown at school and contains good overviews and summaries on the topic. She had an interest to own it as she keeps saying how fascinated she is with space and the universe. The book is overflowing with facts and clear explanations so I can see how it meets her appetite. As such its a great book to bring children up to speed on the topic. The hard cover book, as usual with Usborne’s children’s books, comes very well presented with colourful illustrations on each page. So it should even appeal to those who are not able to read yet. The vocabulary is aimed at the early, key stage 1 readers. Therefore the font type is slightly larger. But I would say the book is well-suited for children from say 4 to 9 years old. The book is slightly larger than Usborne early reader books and much smaller that the larger illustrated books so its an oddity in our collection, yet a much appreciated one. For now the book has been added to our daughter’s little library of which she is very proud. At some stage it will pass on her younger brother who already has a bit more on the topic

Very good book ..every page is full of consized information with a good drawing ..favorite one to me and my toddle whose 1st book is this for the introduction of my toddler

My daughter went out for a day at the National Space Centre she saw this book while there and really wanted it, but it was well out of our price range for a souvenir for the day. Came straight onto Amazon and found this at a more reasonable price. Although it was used it was in great condition and our daughter loves it! Easily readable and informative little book about the solar system.

My 4 year old loves everything to do with the solar system and thanks to this book he can remember all the planets names and interesting facts about them! Think these us borne beginner books are great for kids and even if some are a bit above the head of a 4 year old they are something to aspire to and still interest my little one who does nothing but ask questions about the world all day long! Has helped me as I've learnt a lot too!

This was a Christmas gift for a very curious little boy, and wow did it go down well. I only got a few of the books, but this collection is huge and I would really recommend it to anyone with kids who are keen on learning.

I sent for this for my grandson who is nearly 8 as we purchased a telescope for him. My daughter was disappointed with the book as it did not have any star charts in it, but thought it would be OK for him to read on his own to pick up a few facts.

Lots if information in a kid friendly book. Perfect for your mini astronaut.
