Learning Resources Sum Swamp Game, Ages 5+, Addition & Subtraction Board Game, Fun Maths Games with Dice and Counters

This is a lovely simple game which really appeals to our 5yo. She loves the little animal game pieces, and we love the fact that we're helping her gain confidence with maths as we play. She's been really anxious about maths lessons at school, but this game lightened the mood a lot and she keeps asking to play. Definite win.

Played numerous times today with my kids (age 9, 7 and 5). Such a fun game! Maths element (simple subtraction and addition) challenged my 5 year old (in a good way - not intimidating) and was helpful for my 7 y.o (who admittedly struggles with maths). Maths aside - it is a super game, easy to grasp and hugely enjoyable. Perfect for kids age 5 - 9 (my 9 year old could do the maths standing on his head but still loved the game - particularly the 'endless loop').

My 5 year old daughter loves this game. Its perfect for any child who is learning to add and take away. Each piece is a lovely moulded creature of the swamp, there are shortcuts, endless loops and many other bonus squares. Most of all they will learn to: 1) add and take away any number from 0 to 12 2) recognise the + or - 3) learn about odd or even 4) learn about counting forwards and backwards 5) As time goes on these will also learn to add and take-away very quickly (without fingers) This game has won endless awards and if you buy any maths learning toy, make it this one. Out of all our educational board games this is by far a favourite in our house.

This game is sturdy, attractively produced, has a clear board and clear rules, with lots of interest. Does not take long for someone to win a game (the players only have one piece each to move round the board), so it is possible for everyone to have another chance to win in the next game. The maths was challenging for my 5-yr old grand-daughter (2nd year primary school), as she had not been taught addition and subtraction tables, and was trying to do it on her fingers. Will doubtless help her with her arithmetic, but it was tiring for her to try to work out the answer for everyone's "go", as we did at first. Might be an opportunity to have the addition and subtraction tables on display nearby, so that she could just look up the answer. That said, I would still thoroughly recommend this game.

My daughter really enjoys playing this, it's really bringing her maths along which is wonderful. It's an area she really struggles with so any form of repetition is key in getting the ideas to stick. A great idea and a great game. The idea is to wind your way through Sum Swamp by adding and subtracting the numbers on the dice. It's keeping her engaged and interested (she's 6), so that's all I can wish for. There are a number of other games on Amazon too, so hopefully we should have it all cracked soon!

I read a ton of great reviews about this game and it did not disappoint. It is not only educational but also fun!! On Christmas Day we played no less than 10 times and he has pulled it out every day since to play.

I bought this for my 4 year old's birthday as she is interested in numbers and starting school in Sept. She absolutely loves it and begs me to play 'just one more game', I always put my foot down after the 4th go! We have had it 1 week and play almost every day, but already I have noticed that she is faster at calculating the answers and using her fingers to count on less often. The game features shortcuts, the Endless Loop and other special squares that can propell you forward (or backwards) depending on whether you roll a +/- which keeps things interesting as even if she is very far behind me on the gameboard, she knows that there is still a good chance to win because of these special squares so she doesn't give up. Excellent game design, good quality board and counters - a great purchase.

My 6 year old loves this game, it’s fun for adults too.
