Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy

Full of excellent information, as well as lots of ways to use hydrosols. It really is one of THE best books on aromatherapy I have ever read. The only thing you should know is that due to the book being a little older, some of the links in the back no longer work. But a quick google search for Organic Hydrosols soons fixes that! The only thing I didn't like was her section on animals. It was full of the usual "anything less than raw food is poison" preaching that these books tend to favour. There are many ways of feeding and taking care of animals - there is no such thing as a perfect method, you have to find out what works best for you and your pets. Parroting the current popular dogma is hardly cutting edge. That aside, the book is fantastic. Which may be why there aren't any other books available on the subject.

This is a great book for Aromatherapists and those interested in plants and their uses. It easily explains the role hyrosols play in aromatherpay, It is interesting to read. I love the style of writing and her honesty as the Author herself learnt about this subject. I use it all the time as a reference. It contains loads of suggestions. I would recommend it to any aromatherpist.

Really interesting book. Lots of very useful information about plants and properties of hydrosols. Information on storage is great and relates to lots of other natural products you may be using. Stimulating ideas encouraging you to get hands on experience and try out things for yourself. Nicely written book. Thanks to Suzanne Catty.

This was a very helpful book on a topic that doesn’t seem to have been the subject of many books. For that reason, I am loathe to be to critical of things like the slightly higgledy-piggledy structure and occasionally repetitious nature of the book. I am grateful that Suzanne Catty wrote this comprehensive guide. It caters for people looking to: make their own hydrosols on a large scale; make hydrosol-based products (large scale or personal use) or otherwise use hydrosols in their day-to-day life. I found the information on correctly storing hydrosols and assessing whether they have gone past they best particularly useful. I also liked her honesty about hydrosols smelling and tasting strong and not always pleasant - otherwise I might have thought my Chamomile (Roman) hydrosol was off! The section on individual hydrosols, their properties, average shelf life and uses was incredibly helpful. The chapter of recipes was less useful for me as my interest in using hydrosols lies only in their cosmetic use and many of the recipes were for food, drink or medicinal purposes. But if this is what you’re looking for then there is a nice selection awaiting you! I also was not interested in the brief section on using hydrosols in energy work as I am not a believer in this kind of “therapy”. Others may like the tips provided. Personally, I couldn’t take seriously Catty’s references to fairies and gnomes and cleansing gemstones of their “memories“. If, like me, you’re not a believer please don’t let that put you off this book which is largely based on scientific logic and Catty’s extensive experience of working with hydrosols.

Great Book . If you are treating your dog holistically this book is a must. Found hydrosol information in this book that have been a great help to my rescue dog who has allergies to dust mites and pollen's.

After making some hydrosols with a friend we wanted to know more, this is a very nice guide to a different way of using the therapeutic properties of herbs and other plants and flowers, and lists advice on each hydrosols properties and requirements of storage.

This is one of the most underappreciated product and they are fantastic to use. This book offers a variety of ways to safely use hydasols ❤️

This is just the book I was looking for! Very practical and informative.
