not as robust as i would like, but it’s come in useful a couple of times already, it wouldn’t be hard to break it, and if i do i’d likely buy another

I'm a big fan of Leatherman's range of multitools - I have several of them - and I've never really investigated the competition. But a recent bike breakdown that left me stranded for a simple problem which could have been fixed in seconds with a pair of pliers led me to search for the smallest and lightest set of pliers I could carry alongside my normal bike tools, and I came across the Vise.This is a very small, very light, and relatively cheap tool. But it is absolutely perfect for my needs. The tool is tiny when folded - only 2" long - but the pliers, while obviously small, are sturdy and functional, with no obvious flex in them and a nice sprung action. OK, you're not going to turn a seized 10mm nut with them, but for small gripping jobs, they do the job just fine. You also get two short (non-locking) blades, one straight and one serrated (both comfortably smaller than the legal carry threshold in the UK), a very small bottle opener (which I wasn't entirely convinced by), a couple of screwdrivers and a file. The whole thing is smaller than most modern electronic car keys, and can easily be carried on a key ring.I ended up buying two - one for each bike. They'll never replace my bigger Leatherman tools, but as the smallest possible useful tool you can keep with you at all times, they are brilliant.

Very crusty and cheap feeling.a) The blades/tools are very stiff and feel scratchy like there is grit in the pivots. I've drowned it in oil and lithium grease and only marginally reduced the scratchy feeling. If hold it to your ear and open and close it, you will hear it crunch and scrape, ugh.b) The pliar jaws are a bit lose having 0.8mm lateral play at the tips.c) For a little more money you could get a Leatherman Style (I have the Style CS) which is about ten times better quality.d) The paint chips easily as other have mentioned, but the aesthetics of this piece of junk will be the least of your worries.e) My chain loop hasn't broken yet (day 1) but i can certainly see why others have reported it being a problem, it looks flimsy.f) The blades on mine were blunt and in need of some sharpening, others have said theirs were very sharp, so i think i got a lemon in this regard.I would recommend against getting this and paying more for a Leatherman, like the Squirt or Style.I will never buy a Gerber product again, but I will keep this on my keyring just out of curiosity to see how long it lasts.

Awesome little tool, so handy. Small enough to live in the small jeans pocket, I forget I’m even carrying it. Despite the small size, it feels seriously well made. I’ve had cheaper versions of this type of tool, but this one is well worth the money. All of the tools can be selected with ease, there’s no struggle to get the tools out. All tools feel very sturdy, no wobbling at all. Only small reservation, would be nice to have a small scissor tool instead of one of the two knives, but that’s just personal. Overall, this is a lovely little tool and I can highly recommend it

Gerber Vise arrived slightly wonky / around 1mm off, and a little scuffed even from packet, or could have been me, not sure due to being Aluminium sides easily scuffed / worn.DESIGN POINTS: I would have preferred one blade with 2 thirds serrated edge and one third smooth blade and tip, rather than two blades wasting one tool space. The bottle opener is also a waste due to it being attached to a flat head screwdriver which limits the depth use as it is a "box channel U shape" opener. But the Phillips screwdriver is better than the Gerber dime because it is slightly "3D" and not simply a pointed "2D" tip. Also The pliers have 3 functions - grips - pliers - cutters, but cutters are very small [would have been better to have slightly smaller pointy end tip with another 2mm of cutter blade.The small screwdriver flat-head is OK, but rounded on one side and bladed the other [deign should be both bladed]. The second blade could have been a longer tool for a longer full flat-head, or better still a hook tin opener package cutter combo etc.OVERALL: It is the best available on 17 / 01 /2024 for the price i got it at £19.99 etc, could do with better design, it seems tough enough, and I still have time to send it back for a better aligned one, but it's not a big problem for me. It seem a better bargain than the Gerber Dime and is smaller than others of same price = about two pinky fingers wide and deep in size [roughly]. The warranty is 25years for outside the USA etc, which is fine.

Very handy small utility tool.Happy with it so far. The blades on it are very sharp.Looking forward to trying it out on more projects.

I bought this for my friend as a Christmas present, as his last multi tool had broken. he is a warehouse manager and uses the tool every day for opening parcels/pallets. the tool is very sturdy and has a great build quality, it is packaged nicely in a high quality cardboard/blister style pack, perfect for a gift. BE WARNED, the knife is very sharp and does not lock open (uk regulations) and he has already accidently cut himself with ease. overall great product, which is expected from a company like Gerber.
