I can see how the camera fits onto the rail, but how is it mounted onto a tripod? The other end is just a plain face with 2holes in it.

How much will the rail move for every full turn of the knob?

Apologies for my ignorance but I don't understand how this is better than putting the camera on a tripod and adjusting the focus manually with the len

Could this be used to get the lens axis nodal point over the tripod centre to prevent parallax problems in multi shot panoramas? Thanks
