Looks and feels like quality.
2017 March 24. 3 Port model with CF/SD/MicroSD slots. The first thing I noticed was that this feels like a good quality product. It has a decent weight to it, looks very nice and has a nice rubber pad across the whole of the bottom rather than the tiny rubber "feet" that these things usually have. Some people have complained that the sockets are tight - mine are not tight but the micro-SD takes a bit of a tug to get out once plugged in but it's not a problem and it goes in easy. I've tried ALL of the ports and they all work fine. The CF socket is indeed upside down, but does this matter? It works fine. The USB sockets could also be said to be upside down but actually with my USB sticks which have an activity light this means the light is facing you so I like that. When I first plugged the unit into a USB3 hub on my monitor the 3 x USB ports didn't want to play. This is fairly common though. Some devices want to be plugged directly into the PC USB3 port in order to be detected correctly and load the drivers. This was the case for me and after doing that it now works perfectly plugged into the USB3 hub on the back of my Samsung monitor. That brings me to the only slight gripe that I think would be fair comment, which is that the lead is FAR too short. What were you thinking Sabrent? I wanted this on my desk (well that's the point of it isn't it?) so if I hadn't had a monitor with a USB3 hub on it (or another USB3 hub on my desk) I would have had to have bought a USB3 extension lead because it wouldn't reach my PC's sockets from my desk. Or I'd have had to place the unit on top of my PC so bear that in mind. They state 12 inch lead so you should be prepared and in fact it is about 21 inches or just over half a metre but it is still too short Sabrent! Otherwise perfect product. For people who worry about it skidding around, stick a bit of Blu Tack on each corner like I have and it will be 100% fine. No product like this is going to be immobile! Amazon won't let me award 4.5 stars so I rounded up to 5. Nice product. I would buy another without hesitation.

One hub to rule them all
I love having an Apple desktop computer it's stylish, fast and user-friendly, however having the USB and card read ports on the rear of the screen is a tad annoying. I understand why they do it, I just wish they had at least one of each on the front of the device to make swapping out memory cards that bit easier. That's why I purchased this USB / memory card hub.The Hub itself is constructed from Apple style friendly aluminium and grey metal coloured plastic with white plastic highlights. It has 3 USB ports, a compact flash. standard SD and a micro SD card reading slot. The transfer speeds from these ports is just as good as it would be from plugging straight into your Mac, and the connection is stable and strong. Thanks to its Mac friendly styling it doesn't scream out that it is there when you place it on the foot plate of your Mac, my only fault with this product is the fact that the cable is attached at the side of the hub, which for a neat freak like me is a bit annoying, it would be so much better if the cable was attached to the rear of the device, however having said that this is still a fabulous hub that works perfectly

alright card reader
this card reader looks nice and can read all the cards i needed it to. works fine no problems, also being a usb hub is helpful. however there are some nuances that are appearing after a few months of use:the cable could have been longer for conveniencethe card slots require putting in the card exactly to read the card properly, otherwise the card could be put in at an angle and risk damaging the card and or reader, particularly annoying with the microSD card, the card being that small is tricky enough as it isthink next time i will stick with a traditional, cuboidal card reader rather than one of a fancy shape

Matches older MacBook styling but usable with other systems, too
Replaces a previously purchased device with similar functionality other than its card reader section never worked and was also very poorly made and falling apart. This Sabrent Premium Aluminium USB-3.0 hub has a, almost hidden light bar that shows that is ready to be used. It offers 3 USB 3.0 ports and card slots for TF (micro-SD), SD and CF cards, a combination that is typical of its product type. The base is rubber-covered and is sufficiently non-slip for it to mostly remain where placed despite its relatively low weight - it is actually much heavier than its predecessor which has now been binned. It feels well-made and is solid. The USB ports are fully functional as its its card reader ports (the CF port was not tested as they are not used in any currently used devices - typically older camera models) and a small internal LED illuminates to show that it is 'Live'. It is usually necessary to hold the hub when removing a connected device and that especially applies to micro-SD cards which barely project from the hub's body; it does not have the weight to avoid doing so.The brand is known via prior peripheral purchases which have all performed well and this was chosen in preference to less expensive equivalents that bear one of several anonymous brand-names and where build quality standards and reliability are unknown. Pricing was slightly above average but only by £1 or so.

Sabrent I applaud you!
Looks great on the desk, haven't had any misreads on my SD cards and get fast transfer speeds, much better than those USB stick ones flying around at the moment. The three USB 3.0 ports are also super handy! It's a welcome product to my desk and a worthy contender with some of the other expensive card readers. My only negative is that the cable isn't very long so I had to pick up a USB 3.0 male-female cable so that it will reach my PC ( but this is me being picky about its placement on my desk). You can get these cables for cheap so not really a problem as such.Want my advice, save yourself some money and pick up this bad boy. I can guarantee you, or whoever you're buying this for won't regret it!!

... Mac-esque look and the angle of card insertion is pretty cool and the number and nature of the ports ...
I have updated my star rating from 4 to 5 stars as the "error" much talked about here, and which I took onboard when I had the same problem with my machine. Perhaps those who have, in my view, unfairly reviewed this device, might reflect on theirs too.I have now looking further into the "hardware problem" and I found, for me, it was around a well known Error 21 problems on a Windows 10 machine upgraded from an earlier version. This brought over older USB controller drivers which are not updated unless or until you remove the USB controller devices (all of them) which forces an update. The usual driver and firmware were checked also. Caution is needed if you do not have a PS2 keyboard, but I find that putting you machine to sleep with the power button is sufficient to reinstall the drivers if you loose keyboard and mouse. Once done, the card slots work perfectly.Hope this help someone else.

Dissapointing
Not fully compatible with Mac OSX, Hub is only seen as USB2 and not USB3, though transfer speeds seem to be USB 3, also issues with connectivity, especially the Micro SD card slot. Tested on a late iMac 2013 i5 System with OSX Mavericks/OS Sierra. It is my view that while this USB hub should be plug and play for OSX, it clearly needs a supported driver for OSX, to function correctly. The physical quality and design of the USB Hub is it's strongest point, but it is a shame it's let down on the software side.

Very happy with this for the money
Very happy with this for the money. It looks very much designed for Mac use; the colour matches my iMac; it has the 4 ports you really need these days, rather than all the legacy stuff, and doesn't need a Micro SD adapter. The card reader is fast and works flawlessly. Having USB ports accessible from the front of the machine - particularly USB 3 - is very useful. My one complaint is that the CF slot is upside down, as is the case on a lot of card readers; the poor design of CF means you have to be careful not to damage the slot.As somebody else commented, yes it does have a logo on the front, but this is hardly unusual and not obtrusive.

prima
mooi afgewerkt en ook esthetisch. Veel mogelijkheden, zelfs voor Compact Flash wat tegenwoordig moeilijker te vinden is. Functioneert bovendien prima.

Elegnate, solido, funziona bene. OK
Consiglio l'acquisto.

I'm glad I finally bought it.
I'm not gonna lie: I'm pretty cheap sometimes. I thought it was probably fine to buy cheap, no-name peripherals like USB hubs and card readers. I actually only bought this Sabrent USB card reader because I liked how it looked. I wanted something heavy and substantial, that would not move around every time I bumped the cord, and this device is certainly that. It has considerable heft and a foam rubber base that keeps it firmly in place.Aesthetically, it is fantastic, surpassing what I was hoping for in form and function. It does not look like a cheap toy sitting on my desk, and as I often meet clients informally at my workstation, it has always bothered me that a lot of adapters look out of place on a professional desktop. This makes me feel like I have a modern day old Swingline stapler. It is a serious tool for a serious professional, not a piece of junk for a kid's Minecraft rig.As soon as I took this out of the box, I was satisfied with it. So, imagine my surprise when I learned that I have literally spent months or years of my life waiting for file transfers because I didn't buy this sooner?I immediately noticed that this Sabrent card reader has much better data throughput. I plugged this device into the same port my old one was in, and nothing else changed. Whatever Sabrent does when they build this card reader, they do better than the off brand stuff I've been buying most of my life. The same SD card, the same USB port on the computer - and at least 30% faster throughput due to higher and more stable transfer speed.I bought this looking for a pretty desk accessory, and discovered that it not only makes my desk look better, it does data transfer a whole lot better. I debated over this for a while before I finally bought it, because I didn't realize it was going to also boost my productivity. I recommend this hands down, because in spite of the fact that it is one of the more expensive card readers on Amazon, it is a better value than the other card readers are. This device delivers a satisfyingly substantial feel and top-notch performance. I only wish I had bought it when I first considered it.
