Is it already sharpened when it arrives or is sharpening it the first thing to do?

You have to put a burr on it to use it.

What are the dimensions

Approx 5" x 3". I'm not near the workshop at the moment, so I can't give exact dimensions. It's about 1/8" thick. All in all its a sturdy piece of kit.

Thinking of buying one to tackle my oak worktops. I’m a complete novice , is it easy to put an edge? On the tool?

Yes, it is easy. File or oil stone an edge flat, then pull a hard tool, ie.a round screwdriver shaft along the flattened edge to create a small burr. Done.

Does it remove dried on glue

Yes, cabinet scrapers, if they are sharp are perfect for glue cleanup
