The end of the shaft breaks where it attaches to the base breaks easily.
I love the idea of this light. It’s very bright and it folds which is exactly what I needed. However, after less than two weeks of use in a lake, the bottom of the shaft where it mates with the base, which is very thin plastic, snapped off.

Good quality
Replace my 12 inch one since I wasn’t I. Spec with coast guard regulations. So I have tried both the foot long and the meter long. The foot long held up in the Florida sun against the uv rays and never seemed to destroy it.
