An effective rubbing compound for removing scuffs from a vehicle's body
Halfords used to make a rubbing compound like this, which I used quite often to remove minor scuffs from my car's paintwork. In my recent house move I mislaid it and so tried to buy another, but it appears that Halfords don't do it anymore. They tried to sell me a can of T-Cut, but that's not a rubbing compound, it just removes the top layer of paint from the car. It's used to spruce up a second hand car pre-sale but it also reduces the thickness of the paint on the bodywork. A true compound hardly removes any colour from the car unless it's used too much and with too much pressure. This compound does its job very well, just like the one I used to use. All you need is two soft cloths, one dampened to apply and rub the compound onto the mark and the other, dry, to wipe it off and polish it. Works as it should. Recommended.

Generous amount. Great for blending new paint with old
A medium rubbing compound. Works with polishers fine

Easy to use
I think it is saver then wet sanding. Used an OEM touch up paint with a needle. Did use 3.5 reading glasses to apply the paint, let it dry a few days as it was 5 C outside. Though it does nothing with a wet microfiber cloth as recommended on the instructions. I used a DA polisher with black foam, then yellow foam to polish. They key to detailing is to minimise the visual impact of the scratch without thinning the surrounding paint too much. Sanding will remove more of the visual impact of the scratch but the disadvantage is at what price. This does sand with a polisher but the disadvantages are with a bigger scratch there will be less blending. But scratches at the bottom of the car where there may be several parallel scratches I just used the brush on the touch up paint, u can get away with this on black paint. Lastly wipe off, the white residue. This is also proof that it is sanding. Then used a black polish followed by no colour resin polish. Probably finish with a sealant. But detailing is about creating a personal solution which satisfies the aesthetics of the result with the cost or negativeity of the progress.

Not very effective.
Didn't bring back the sheen of sanded lacquer, wouldn't remove swirl marks. Used a different product that worked.

Not a good cutting compound
Could not lift the skin off a custard pudding. Does shine well but as a cutting compound it is useless

Does the job
This is great stuff – I used it on some light scratches, which were removed after some short passes. Also used on a patch of fine 3000-grade surface scratches, which came away easily after a couple of passes. Easy to get out of the tube and apply. Worth the spend! Best to wax the area after to make the shine return.
