Sturdy, configurable depth, solid construction, everything supplied (including tools). First class.
For years, my homelab/datacentre, I've been using a wall mounted 9U 19" 400mm deep comms cabinet. It's housed a netgear switch, the patch panel (64 x CAT6 cables, structured cabling), and shelves for modems/routers/NAS. Then I bought a couple of UniFi boxes only to find they were 442mm deep and no spare depth to plug the power cable in. So, then upgraded to a 15U 19" 500mm cabinet and comfortably fitted in the Unifi boxes. Then I've just recently bought my first edge compute server, only to find that my 500mm rack only has 470mm usable depth. Upgrade time. This time, I went for the 15U StarTech frame, that is expandable. Whilst I only needed 500m (usable), it's infinitely configurable, so I've set it up with 800m of usable depth. I assembled at ground level in the two halves... lifted it up into the loft and assembled the complete unit in situ. It's so sturdy. Whilst it comes with really solid wheels I didn't use those and screwed mine down to the base of the garage loft. Instructions are really clear, and after a few steps you can second guess what's next. It's amazing in that they provide you with *all* the (good quality) tools necessary. There's a whole heap of black sturdy cage nuts as well. I can't fault any aspect of this rack. I wish I had done this years ago. It's StarTech for any future cabinets. Now, where's that used HPE DL380.....

Way Better Than I Expected
I bought this for a home-network installation, for the under-stairs cupboard. For a floor-standing, 12U cab, it's one of the least expensive out there so I didn't expect too much in terms of quality. I was very pleasantly surprised.StarTech don't have the same reputation has Prism or Datacel in the the server/network space but this little rack is excellent. It is incredibly well made. Sturdy, with a premium feel. All the fixtures and fitting are included, including cage nuts, two spanners and even a decent screwdriver. Nothing feels cheap and even the manual is printed on nice, thick paper. The entire rack uses the same big bolts all over. No messing around with different types of screws and fasteners. Only the castors use slightly smaller M4 bolts, which are packaged separately. There are no sharp edges to cut your fingers on (why do so many racks have sharp metal all over the place?) and the rack positions are numbered front and back at least in the 12U model. The only tiny issue I had was getting the screws in for the castors. Each castor has four bolts. Three are easy to put in, one is fiddly as the hole is slightly obstructed. My advice would be to put the castors on as early in the build as possible or keep the main bolts very loose until the very end as it makes the frame slightly easier to manipulate.

Great strong high quality full size server rack! Great for homelab!!
Great product with outstanding quality, it is strong and stable 15U rack with ability to have a Dell R730XD without any issues. It would be nice if StarTech would have optional add on kits to turn it from open frame rack to close frame a.k having top and sides to it. However, the rack is simple to build and set up with easy to follow instructions perfect for homelab. It came in heavy large box but it had everything and only took hour to build with single person.

A good find!
What a piece of kit! I made the mistake of buying a server that was far too large for conventional cabinets within the home lab sphere. This cabinet has made the server useable without breaking the bank. I'm very pleased to have purchased this. The frame is robust and substantial... it's certainly not going anywhere in a rush. The metal finish is absolutely on the money making this appear a very premium product. The instructions could do with a little more work as there are some jumps however once you get going, its quite simple to work out. Make sure you have a phone handy to convert from imperial to metric. It would be beneficial for a roof/top panel to be available for this cabinet (there are mounting points) - I've resorted to a piece of wood that does just the job.

Extremely glad I did
Bought this rack for a server installation project in a fairly confined space. I looked around for many days at racks, many are ridiculous prices for what they are, then I came across this one and decided to go for it. Extremely glad I did!It arrived very quickly on Prime (which I also couldn't believe) and is in a very compact package. Installation with one person is easy and will take around an hour. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they had included all tools required including spanners and screwdrivers which a huge bonus for those who don't have to hand.I also couldn't believe the quality. For the price compared to others, I wasn't sure how well made it would be, but it is extremely well built, all parts are made of nice heavy thick metal and feels solid when put together. Also included is a few extra bolts just incase, and plenty of cage nuts and bolts.I have a couple of rack mount servers in it so far, and a few towers on a shelf and it feels very stable, even when moving it around on the casters. The adjustable depth I was a little bit worried about for strength compared to a fixed construction but I need not have worried, its plenty sturdy and appreciate having the flexibility. All in all, I really cannot fault this rack, wouldn't hesitate to use again. Highly recommended.

overall good, but missing a few minor things
good rack but it's missing a few things for being perfect.a set of internal/front to rear mounts to allow fixed shelves to be used (these are 90 degree rotated from the typical front cage nut mounts; see datacel, hp & dell cabs). as it stands you need to use the front mounts.cable management hooks stick out the sides so you either cannot mount cabs directly next to each other, or add to your width. having the mounts point front/rear would allow for a cleaner and more compact installation which is especially useful for home type use where space/tidyness is of higher importance.other than that, brilliant cab. the adjustable depth is especially useful as i required a measure between the common fixed depth cabs and was one of the reasons i bought this.

Amazing quality product at a fantastic price!
I rarely write reviews on products but this latest purchase has pleased me enough to warrant some feedback.Firstly - the packaging of the rack was SUPERB! I have never seen something be so well packaged in my life. It's HEAVY so you'd expect lots of packing etc. to stop the box from falling apart but these guys have gone above and beyond to protect all the components too. They're made of steel so protecting them would be a mute point except they obviously care about the quality and finish being preserved during transit. Seriously, well done on that front!Secondly - the quality of the materials is really high. No, really - it's SOOO good you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd robbed them for the price they're asking. There are no sharp edges, no dodgy holes, no duff bolts etc. - it's all just perfect. The paint job is also something they've not scrimped on. It's THICKKK. Really very good job done on something that may well face some abuse over the coming years.Thirdly - it's HEAVY. Really. You MUST take note that putting it together on your own IS possible but to avoid scratching anything or doing your back in - you really should consider getting a second pair of hands to assist. Yet another sign of quality materials being used here.WELL DONE StarTech - You've earned yourself a NEW loyal customer!

Rock solid, easy build, clean look. Worth the admittedly expensive price.
Expensive, but a true buy-once, cry-once purchase. This thing is absolutely SOLID! I'm not personally using the wheels, but the thing is absolutely rock solid. Assembly is very easy, took me 15-20 minutes alone. I wouldn't be shocked if this far outlives me.Tips for making it look less 'jarring' in a home setting:Use a length of black electrical tape to cover the numbering down each of the 4 exandable side arms. Do this during assembly before sliding into the receiving arms. This gives the rack a uniform clean black aesthetic.Use another length of black electrical tape to cover over the logo. When pressed down firmly in a straight line, it's practically invisible when you're not directly looking for it. This greatly helps with the look.
