Trixie Parla scratching post 62 cm, platinum grey

This scratching post is great! It comes delivered in two parts, the base and the post itself, and you get a big screw and a mini allen key. Its so easy to assemble, basically put the screw through the hole in the middle of the base (you may have to use scissors to poke through the fur), line up with the hole in the post and screw the parts together, using the allen key to make sure its tight enough. That done, just put it down and you're good to go! Its really sturdy and bigger than I thought which is good. I'm not sure about the whole placement thing (as mentioned in other reviews of this) but I put mine in the lounge and they took to it immediately. They loved the feel of the fur on the base and seemed to enjoy flexing their claws on it! I don't have to worry about it falling over at all. My male cat particularly likes the fact theres a small circle of fur topping the post and likes to stretch up to it, he half climbs to get at it too! I am overall VERY satisfied with this and I'm so glad I bought it. The price is fab too, considering its actually pretty big and robust. The cats love it!

I rescued an old cat from the cats home and she scratched my wallpaper so I thought I would see how I would to with this. After reading the reviews I thought I had nothing to lose as the price is really affordable and the reviews were great. I was so excited when it arrived a few days later. It was really simple to assemble and I put the cat scratching post in my living room where the cat spends most of her time. I put some of her toys on the soft base and started to play with her. I put her favourite rat on the top of the post and couldn't believe it when she reached up for it and scratched! It's a fantastic scratching post and now every morning when she wakes up she goes straight to it and enjoys a scratch. It is really well made and sturdy and I am so pleased I read the reviews and tried it out. I have recommended this to a friend whose cat is scratching her sofa and explained how I taught my cat to use it. Very very happy with this purchase. Great product!

Very easy to build. Ideal for bigger cats, as they can really stretch high up. Pretty sturdy, but does rock a bit, as the cats can be pretty rough with it. Good value for money for the quality.

After reading reviews of other products I decided to purchase this as it had great reviews and because it is taller than most other scratch posts. Needless to say it was the right decision. It arrived within the given time period as a flat pack with a screw and spanner and was very easy to put together. It is very sturdy, well made and looks of good quality. I thought I would have difficulty getting the cat to use this instead of the leather sofa! but he used it straight away with a bit of tempting of string tied around it. He now comes in and uses it straight away instead of the sofa and every now and again I play with the string with him so he can stretch up to the top of the post and get his claws into the scratching post. The base is lovely and soft. So much so that likes to sleep on it but he is a little too big for it so think I may need to buy him a bed of similar material.

This is far larger than you would normally think. Yes you have the dimensions, but to put it into terms you can visualise, the base, a MDF covered square is heavy enough for our monster Persian to sit on the top of the pole without tipping it over. This pole was the first out of three that we brought which did what it was supposed to do. It is heavy enough not to fall over, Over razor clawed Persian leaves enough of his nails in the string to give him relief and since having it in the house, not once has he scratched the carpet. Our other cat is not interested but as an old boy and not caring for anything other than his food and sleep. The pole in real terms is the thickness of a Pringles can and 1 1/2 the height. Plenty tall enough for him to stretch himself out. Is it worth the money? Yes, best out of all those I have brought and wasted my money on before. I sprayed mine in Capnip when we first had it. 20 minutes later the cat has a satisfied look on his face.

I already have one of these that's a couple years old, but as I moved to a new house I needed a second to put on the second floor and hopefully protect the new sofas. My Loki loves these posts, he's used the original one every day, and when he saw the new one appear in the lounge he knew exactly what to do! They are a good size for him, and he is a large cat, as he likes to stretch his back at the same time. Honestly the original post is still in daily use even after 2-3 years, the sisel has broken in one place, he's a strong make cat and really pulls while stretching, but I'm sure a bit of glue will give it a few more years! The base is still perfect like new, Loki does like to scratch the base too. It became invaluable when moving house, as he's put so much of his scent into it (from scent glands in cats paws) that he immediately recognized it and acclimatised better to the new home. I'm really happy with my posts, and so is Loki. They are his furniture to rub, scratch and play as he wants, and he's more confident knowing his posts are there (he can be nervous and timid cat).

I ordered this product in December 2023. On unpacking, it appeared flimsy and unfortunately this first impression has proved correct. It has collapsed after only four months, so I have now amended my former 3-star rating to 1-star. The thin fleece on the top of the pole was destroyed after about 1 month, but I overlooked that as the pole, and its ability to remain upright, is the most important function for the cat. The base seems to be constructed of thin reconstituted ersatz wood material, covered in fleece fabric. Yesterday the bolt attaching the upright to the base simply passed through the crumbling base, rendering the scratching pole useless unless I find another more solid base and drill a hole in it. For comparison, my cat has three other inexpensive scratching posts which have endured for several years, so this one lasting only four months is an indication of its poor quality. Very disappointing.

This is an excellent scratching post - tall enough to allow even my large cats a full stretch. This was the 2nd one I've ordered and the first one was perfect. However this one arrived without the connecting bolt, rendering it completely useless! Fortunately I had a spare bolt from a cat tree that I had just dismantled, which does the job even though it is a bit short. I've given 3* because it is a good product if it's all there, but in this instance it was not a good experience.
