Great way to reduce your use of single use ziplocks!
So far, so good with my new Silicone bags! I absolutely LOVE that I can start to reduce my use of ziplock bags-- so much better for the environment! So far I have used my bags in 2 different ways. I have some Pita pockets stored in the larger bag in the freezer. The Pita pockets can then be removed individually as needed. The silicone bags work great for this-- my Pitas don't stick together, and don't show any evidence of freezer burn. I also have stored some homemade spaghetti sauce in a smaller silicone bag. I really enjoy how the bags stand on their own, which makes filling them with liquids so much easier. This sauce is also hanging out in the freezer with no leakage, spilling, or other issues. One tiny challenge is that if you are not careful when sliding the closing mechanism closed, you will have a tough time getting it open.My biggest issue with this product is that I currently do not have enough of them. But, I am working on remedying that!

Fasteners melted
First, the good things. No more ziplocs. I like that they stand on their own - it makes filling easier. They are really heavy duty - they should last a long time. Keeping one for use only with marinaded items - because you can never get the smells out entirely. They are a little cumbersome to clean, if you have large hands it might be a real chore. I filled mine up with hot soapy water and shook them and for what I was cooking, it sufficed.Now....for the not so good. The fastener melted, and I mean really melted; when the bag fell over in the water. It melted in a arc and the open side that you slide, melted almost shut. I had a dickens of a time getting it off. I am now using mini clips from the hardware store to hold that one closed but if it falls over, it is going to fill with water.I have a Sous Vide Supreme 11 liter. I was thinking you could get all three bags in at once, but if you are using a rack-not going to happen. And they can't hold as much volume as the ultimate capacity - they won't fit in the rack (standard rack that comes with this sous vide. They CAN leak. If for some reason that fastener melts, or even distorts, it is going to leak - so a loss in whatever you put in the bag.If you use the big one and the next to biggest one and they are filled to capacity, you will have to bail out some water before putting them in the sous vide. I had my sous vide at the max and had to bail it out after putting the biggest bag in---before putting in the second bag. These silicone bags do hold quite a bit more than a normal freezer ziploc.I used them primarily to cook large batches of soybeans to make tofu and soy milk. 190 degrees for 8 hours. All in all, I would buy them again because it is allowing me to use the Sous Vide again. I had intended to get a vacuum chamber but didn't so had to use ziplocs and I did not like that.Update: 9.4.18. I used the bags again and the other two fasteners melted as well. To Kiva's credit, I received another set; unasked. So they do read these reviews. I appreciated the kindness but it does not solve the problem. I switched using these bags with the Anova Sous Vide, where they can be fastened to the sides of the 6 quart container. The fasteners rest above the sous vide balls so the melting probably won't happen again using this method. If they could solve this problem they would have a really fantastic product. They are easy to clean, easy to fill and they don't seem to hold odors.

Fresher for longer.
I’ve been taking measures to become plastic bag free and I highly recommend these silicon bags.1. Keeps your food fresh for way longer! I love cilantro but for some reason it tends to go bad within 3-4 days after buying it. I put it in one of these containers and it lasted a little over a week and was still pushing along, I just finished it by that point. I like to keep onions in here as well that are half chopped. My red onion lasted 2 weeks until I needed to use it. No mold, nothing.2. Simple technology. All you have to do is slide the plastic closing piece on and off. It’s not that hard if you do it correctly and it doesn’t take that much strength.3. Easy to washIt’s silicon so stuff doesn’t easily get stuck to it making it super easy to wash.4. Somewhat eco friendlyI’m not sure if silicon is better than plastic in the long run but it’s reusable which is the good part so you save money and the planet on that part. The top part is made of a plastic piece so I also I’m not sure how much you can brand this as “eco friendly”. The important part is it’s reusable and it does a better job than plastic bags.

Environmentally better than plastic bags, and that includes ease of cleaning.
I use these bags for storing food, including liquids, in the freezer. We used to double-bag items with plastic and wash the bags by hand. These silicon bags can instead go in the dishwasher. Another nice feature is that you can take them out of the freezer and put them directly into the microwave (with the plastic bar taken off) for thawing. The large bags are nicely flexible. At first, I had trouble getting the plastic bar off the large bags, but I found that if I let the bag warm up a bit after taking it out of the freezer, the bar came off without much effort. I don't know about durability yet, having not had these bags for too long. I chose these Kiva bags because they seemed like the best for the price for this type of product and because the large bags seemed like just the right size for storing things we get at Costco in quantity, like nuts and blueberries.

Great concept but difficult for those with limited hand function
I bought these 3 years ago. I sincerely am trying to reduce plastic and have eliminated it in many areas of the kitchen already. But, I have problems manipulating things with my hands sometimes, similar to people with arthritis, or even carpel tunnel. Most of the bags (I have 2 sets) are extremely difficult for me to open and close. Forget putting anything semi liquid in them, because the force I need to exert sends the contents directly down the from of my shirt. Every year since purchase, I have taken them out and tried to use them hoping they'll work better; every yea, after a trial period, I put them back on the shelf. My husband also has difficulty with them. But, we love the concept and are eager to do what we can to reduce, reuse, and be kind to the earth. I only wish the bags were a little kinder to us.

Good product, but not for liquids.
These do leak a bit. I had ice in them and once melted, the bag couldn’t contain the water anymore. They are ok to clean, I find once they are flipped over, the water will sit in the corners, so they don’t dry well on their own. Durable and easy to use otherwise.

Great Product
Nice replacement for Ziploc Freezer Bags. I use them to store bulk meat in the freezer. Haven't had them long, but so far so good!
