Excellent Sound Quality and Very Comfortable to Wear
Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro, 250 Ohm Headphones:This is a superb pair of headphones, the sound quality is excellent - for a discerning hifi enthusiast without an endless budget to spend! The frequency range is well balanced, the placement of instruments on the sound stage is precise and it is easy to distinguish what instruments (and voices) are playing. They have increased my enjoyment in listening to music significantly. Don't expect booming base from these, they are not rave party headphones, they are intended to provide a well-balanced listening experience and they do that exceptionally well in my opinion! For reference, my musical tastes vary from classical, to jazz, to 1970s and upwards pop and rock music. As stated in the description, these are semi-open headphones, meaning that some sound leaks out and in. So other people close by can hear what you are listening to and it is also possible to hear background noise around you when you are listening to the headphones. But that will always be the price to pay for getting such a good sound stage, there is no getting away from that. That said, the sound leakage into and out of the headphones is not excessive and should not be a problem in reasonable situations. But they might not be appropriate in a location such as an office or library, or where there is a lot of background noise, eg radio/television or on a car, bus, plane, etc. In cases like that you would be better off with some good close-backed, noise-cancelling headphones. However, I do have some noise-cancelling Sennheiser headphones and the listening experience is far inferior to these DT880 headphones, because the noise-cancelling function does impact the sound quality. The build quality is also very good. Note that there are different variations of these and other Beyerdynamic headphones, with different impedance values and headband comfort, so its worth checking out which ones will be most appropriate. The ones I got are 250 ohm impedance, which are most suitable for a hifi amp, or a good quality PC sound card, although I did get listenable sound levels from a mobile phone. The "PRO" version has a coiled cable, whereas the "Edition" version has a straight cable. The headband is supposed to be tighter on the "PRO" version, compared with the "Edition" version, but I find these very comfortable and do not move around on my head like some cheaper phones would. All-in-all I highly recommend these headphones for anyone who wants to sit back and enjoy listening to music without distractions from elsewhere.

Fabulous, totally stunning
For many years I have listened to music, thanks to these headphones, i'm now hearing music, the detail is stunning, the build quality is typically Germanic, solid and impressive, the lead is coiled as well which gives extra flexibility when listening , I'm assured that the sound quality gets even better as the headphones bed in after about 50 hours listening, they sound great now, what they will be like in about 30 hours...The soundstage that you are presented with is wide and luxurious..These are my first excursion into the world of high end audio and I put a lot of research into them before buying. I have a iPhone that has all my music on and my concern was would the 250 ohm be too powerful for the iPhone, and as an alternative I looked at the 32 ohm but was put off by the fact that the music sounds less impressive through the 32ohms, apparently.. The 600ohms were the best of the lot but I knew the iPhone wouldn't handle it..Running the 250ohm DT880's through the iPhone you do get sound but it is very quiet, you most certainly need an amp to power them and the Fiio E07K Andes powers the iPhone up a treat and gives very detailed music through the headphones.Whilst they are described as semi-closed they are more open with the noise leakage that takes place..Comfort wise, i read they were described as having a soft sofa on your ears, that I can't disagree with they are very comfortable, and the longest I have worn them for so far is 3 hours and had to adjust them once..no heat build up due to the material of the headphone cover..If your after a great headphone, and can afford a portable amp..i highly reccommend these

Great quality from Beyerdynamic as expected and a solid upgrade from DT770 80ohm.
I've owned lots of headphones but will pretty much always buy Beyerdynamic.I needed to purchase a new pair of headphones after my DT770's started to produce a cracking sound through the right cup.I did hours of research on what Beyers' to buy and these seemed like a solid upgrade from the DT770's.The separation is a lot better due to the design. At first, I thought the bass was too boomy - but then I realised that it's probably just because I was used to the DT770's high treble and zero bass sound (or maybe the bass just faded away on the 770's after constant heavy usage for ~5 years). The bass, mids, and high-end are all super clear and make it easy to pinpoint specific frequencies or sound anomalies. These are also great for gaming. The comfort, as with any Beyer headphone with this same design, is 10/10 without a doubt. Would highly recommend these for anything from casual, gaming, or professional sound design but be warned - they aren't made for entertainment - they're made for critical listening and pinpoint accuracy.
