Light weight solution to ground heat loss
Been using this now for several years, pretty good at keeping the cold of the ground away from you. Not as comfy as an air filled mat or air bed but sufficient for most conditions, do make sure you choose a location relatively flat and without any stones or hard bumps though as you will feel them.Purpose:During camping a major source of heat loss is from the ground, as such a mat provides insulation between the camper and the ground, the addition of a foil improves the performance of a standard foam mat.Pros:CheapLightCompact (I wrap mine around the tent)Cons:Easily damagedNot as comfy as an air filled mattress

Bad.
This item is cheap. That description applies to both the price and the mat itself.I am not sure how people have used this in real life but the foam is of such a low quality that it dents and tears with ridiculous ease.If you squeeze the foam gently between two fingers, you will leave an indelible mark. If you press into it (not with extreme force) with a finger nail, it will actually tear. How this is supposed to function under full body-weight on uneven ground without becoming battered and torn in very short order is anyone's guess. As other reviewers have mentioned, the foil also tears very readily: if you were to want to use and stow this on a daily basis for a multi-stop trip, good luck.We have other high-density foam sleeping mats which we have used for literally decades and they look in better condition after all that time than this does after one 2-night trip.Really big mistake buying this and a bit miffed with myself for doing so - should have known better :(
