SECOND UPDATE - NOW ON 15 STARS!
SECOND UPDATE - I recently had need to contact AutoVox on another matter regarding the second wireless camera that I have fitted. Again, Elena in Customer Services replied promptly, was very friendly and supportive as always, and could not have been more helpful! I was again delighted with how she helped me. And both cameras continue to work perfectly and make my driving much safer and more comfortable.UPDATE - The first transmitter I bought in November 2017 recently failed. I contacted customer service for advice - their reply was just as speedy and polite as the other times I have contacted them for advice. They confirmed 12-month warranty and sent a replacement transmitter from China. This is now fitted and all up and working again.I have no connection with this company but I wish that I did! They set a shining example for excellent caring and friendly customer service, high-quality products and super value for money.INTIAL REVIEW Excellent product at a great price. Wireless transmission gives brilliant video quality and makes it so easy to fit with no wires to feed from rear of car to front. Really bright and clear picture and guidelines really useful for judging width and distance. This is the second of these that I have fitted to 2 family cars and I am about to buy a third! Also, excellent customer service - the second car has a broken-lightbulb automatic detection system, and I had read that these can prevent such cameras working. My email to customer services was answered promptly and suggested they did not know of any problem because of this, and asked me to lt them know how I got on. Bad weather delayed my fitting the camera - I forgot to get back in touch and then I received a very polite email asking if I had been successful - real customer care :-)I can't score this camera or their service more than 5* but I would if I could!

Straight forward and effective!
After a lot of research, and a couple of ridiculous quotes from garages (£300 for installed reversing camera seemed a bit much!) I purchased the M1W kit from Auto-Vox on Amazon. Order was delivered within 1 day & ahead of predicted delivery date- brilliant. The kit itself is very straight forward. The display mounts on dash or window with a suction cup and plugs into a 12v socket, same as you would with a sat nav. The camera uses adhesive pads and mounts behind the number plate, and connects to the wireless transmitter- only wiring is a couple of plug in connections between camera and transmitter, and 2 wires to splice into the existing reverse wires of your vehicle for power using the scotch lock style plastic splices provided. Easy enough if you can access your reverse bulb on the vehicle, and then just scotch lock the wires as shown on the (basic) instructions included in the box.Installation only took about 30 minutes, and I'm very pleased with the results so far. Picture is clear and with good definition, the camera appears of good quality and fits nicely with the rest of the vehicle, and there doesn't appear to be much interference with the picture either. The camera has a couple of LED bulbs built in which automatically come on if it's dark enough- they're not great, but they'll supplement any reversing lights already on the vehicle.Takes a couple seconds for screen to show picture when reverse is engaged, but delay isn't horrendous. Screen is basic but clear, and mount appears to be strong so far.Very pleased with this camera so far, hoping it will make it easier to hitch up the trailers next week!

Volvo XC90 2008 installation
I bought this only 2 days ago after taking delivery of a 2008 Volvo XC90 - it has rear parking sensors and sat nav, but not the expensive reversing camera option so I thought I would try this set up - it seemed quite inexpensive and I wasn't too sure about the quality or my ability to pull trim off a car I knew little about. I installed it today - took me about an hour and a half, most of which was prising off trim and trying to work out a way for the camera wire to enter the rear of the car. Hooking up the transmitter to the left rear reverse light was no problem.I managed to route the camera wire up into the upper tailgate by loosening the numberplate fitting from inside the tailgate, once I had pulled off the trim, and up towards the roof on the left. I fed the transmitter wiring up from the left rear light and connected the two - I need to neaten that up a bit as there is a visible length of wire so that the upper tailgate can fully open. i have ordered some thin black corrugated flexible piping / wire sheathing to do that. The monitor just plugs into the front 12v socket - I need to find a way to route the wires behind the dash and the trim but left it like that for now. It works - and works well. I breathed a sigh of relief, I had considered buying the kit offered by Halfords along with their installation service, but it was very expensive if you want the night vision cam - plus the nuisance of having to book it in and not have the car for a day!!The wireless option was so much easier than routing an extremely long wire from the rear to the front of the big SUV.The picture quality is really excellent - I need to get the camera angle just right, which I am sure I will do in time. it would have been nice to be able to adjust the green lines though, which there is no option to do. The quality of the picture at night is also really really good - absolutely on par with our BMW X5 - used it this evening and it was very reassuring to have the rear cam. Now I just need some front parking sensors and will be fitting those sometime soon.If a woman of mature years can manage this installation reasonably, then so can anyone else - I really recommend this kit and will post updates if anything changes or to report on its durability.
