The spiral saw blade cuts in all directions
New to scroll sawing I followed the advise of other users and books. Olson blades are great quality I find and I am glad that they were recommended. The spiral saw blade cuts in all directions and is fantastic at cutting any radius corner. As a new user I did find them hard to control and it will take much practise. But being able to cut without having to rotate the piece of ply I was cutting was a great advantage. The rear face of the play was a little rough but acceptable.

Different to normal blades
Spiral cut is a different experience to normal blades. You can cut just by moving the workpiece in the correct direction- no need to rotate it. Not everyone likes this, but I certainly do! If you use a scroll saw and have not used spiral blades, give it a go- I recommend them. Much easier to fit too- no fiddling to get the teeth facing forward.

A blade that goes where others can’t !
Spiral blades are always a little difficult to attach to the clamp because they don’t have a clearly defined end plate. They also make a slightly wider & less smooth cut than regular blades. However there are some scroll saw jobs that only they can do easily. It’s when doing these fiddly jobs that I find them to be most useful. Excellent to have on standby 👍

Chickens teeth!
These are a must if you use a jigsaw when cutting in all directions.

Cuts in all directions
As flat ended, painless blades, they are a little fiddlier to fit in the saw but once set up, they they cut smoothly in all directions. Great for fine, tightly carved shapes.
