Shave great , value great , Scent not great
I brought this product on a whim because it was cheap and new. I'm comparing this against the following products all of which I can recommend: Geo f Trumper almond shaving cream, Truefitt and hill No 10 shaving cream, Proraso Sensitive soap and Mitchells wool fat soap.ProsVery cheap and will last for agesGood cushioning and lubricationDoes not dry the skin too muchCan be whipped up in own tubConsStrange chemically scentCardboard yogurt pot style tub does not exactly exude class and sophisticationWhen peeling film of for first time it will leave annoying plastic shreds around the rim; which will annoy OCD typesConclusionNot at all bad but would not buy again when there are much nicer products out there for only a few pounds extraI'd say spend a few more pennies and buy a tub of proraso, but of course its a personal thing

GOOD LATHER
I ordered this as an add on item, and also as it has some good reviews. The scent to me is nearly the same as the Arko shave soap, but a lot stronger. Some people dont like this sort of smell, likening it to a toilet smell, not sure why? I think it is a typical old school/barber shop smell. Anyway, As with the Arko shave stick, the Derby shave soap lathers up really well, as Turkish soaps do, and is good at lubricating the skin. Just make sure, as with all shave soaps in my opinion, even with the more expensive ones, that you get the water ratio right. I use to add very little water, but despite giving me a good thick lather, it dried out on my skin a lot quicker, and didnt leave a lubricating film on my skin after the razor went accross my face. For the money this is very good value, despite the plastic container it comes in!

Good product amazing price.
Honestly so much better than most premium priced products. After blooming the soap it lathered up a thick and creamy amount of soap on my badger brush.I honestly prefer this to some razorock soaps... Once loaded it has enough for several passes easy. The scent is a classic Barber shop smell which I like.I only gave 4 stars and not 5 as it doesn't leave alot of slickness behind. And you need to apply water to your face before the next pass. Hope this helps.

Very good value soap.
As my Kent shaving soap had ran out I thought I would try this inexpensive Derby soap.Very briefly..its very good indeed. It lathers really well.. on a par with Tabac imho with an unusual but not unpleasant smell. If anyone disliked the smell it can easily be covered by your aftershave anyway. The lather is very thick, very creamy and very slick.. what more do you want!!The packaging ,which looks like a yoghurt pot, is where the cost has been saved I would think..HOWEVER, the soap puck itself is a perfect fit for the wooden Kent bowl which my previous soap was in. So that's where it sits now!!Hope that helps others out there to reach a decision on whether to try this shaving soap.

It smells fantastic, a proper manly smell
I'm new to safety razor shaving and I had a turkish hot towel shave a few weeks back and they used this product. It smells fantastic, a proper manly smell, not only makes my face smell nice after a shave, but leaves the smell in the bathroom itself every time I walk in.

Be careful what you're ordering
Although the images and text in this product listing are for Derby Barbershop Soap the actual listing is for Wilkinson Sword soap in the blue bowl which is one of the worst soaps ever produced and also sells for a pound or two in the local chemist. I didn't notice and ordered thinking I was getting Derby, Wilkinson arrived and went straight in the bin.Don't order this unless you want Wilkinson Sword, if you haven't tried it before then trust me, you do not want Wilkinson Sword.
