Psychic Surveys Book Nine: The Devil's Liar: A Gripping Supernatural Thriller

The Devil's Liar is the ninth book in the Psychic Surveys series and I love this series, I preordered this so I got it on my kindle as soon as it was released, I do that for all of Shani’s books.Psychic surveys follow 4 women, Ruby, Theo, Ness and Corinna as they help spirits pass into the light but sometimes whilst helping, doors are opened to other darker entities.In this book, Theo regrets not helping a child spirit ( who it seems had killed other children) when she was younger and asks the rest of the team to help her make amends.At the same time Ruby is dealing with a living child called Willow who is able to channel an energy that is darker than Ruby has experienced.Theo and Ruby learn some evil is more than even they can deal with and they have to dig deep within themselves to help the two childrenThis was a visit to old friends, I love the characters of the 4 psychics so much, oh and Ruby has a ghost dog called Jed, what more do you need! This is, as usual, a fast paced, fantastic read, at this point I feel like I know these characters and I’m right there with them on their journey.I love Shani’s writing, it is so lyrical and the story moves with such ease. The real joy for me in these books is that normal everyday life and the spiritual realm they work in flows parallel to each other, one bleeding into the other, I love the fact that the ladies all have such self doubt but still get the job done even if it risks their lives, their ability to see what others can’t has made them above all else kind, flawed, damaged and scared but kind.The day the psychic surveys ends will take a little light out of my reading life but everything as it’s time and everything ends but hopefully not just yet. 5 stars.

The next journey with the Psychic Surveys team has been well worth the wait I absolutely love the storyline I found myself holding my breath at times Ruby and Theo going through some traumatic journeys. I feel as though I am with them while reading finding myself wanting to take their hands and help. I was worried for Theo that she may pass over to the spirit world in this book as her character is getting older so glad this did not happen will be such a sad day hoping she lives for a long while yet. Waiting in anticipation for the next book not too long I hope, thank you Sharni Struthers for sharing your knowledge of spiritualism and the occult what you weave in to these special books and of course much loved characters.

I've read all of the Psychic Surveys books and thoroughly enjoyed each one. Supernatural thrillers one and all. The ladies who run Psychic Surveys have formed a sort of Brighton based 'Ghost Busters' company and actively seek out locally based supernatural trouble spots. However, unlike the film 'Ghost Busters' there is no humour here. Dark and menacing is the central theme of this series. On the other hand these ladies offer hope to their clients and always try and lead troubled spirits into the light. If you like your ghost stories told without graphic horror and explicit violence then this is the series for you.

It was so good to be back with Ruby, Theo, Ness & Corinna, so good in fact that I polished this book off in 2 days. The Devil’s Liar is partly dealing with Theo’s unfinished business, partly delving further into Ruby’s relationship with her father. This book was a little scarier than previous ones, which upped the ante & makes the reader feel a real sense of urgency. A few twists and turns along the way too! Judging by the ambiguous ending, Ruby still has some way to go & a big battle ahead…I went to bed envisaging myself & my family surrounded by white light! Certainly makes you think and think, well after finishing the book. Maybe I’d better off sleeping with a night light…!

Another fabulous book in the Psychic Surveys collection. I can’t get enough of the amazing characters and thrilling storylines. Shani has such an amazing way with words that makes you feel as if you are part of Ruby’s team and in the same room - experiencing events first hand. Utterly absorbing!

Always good to catch up with Ruby and the psychic surveys team and this book once again didn't fail to disappoint!If you haven't read any of these go find book one and start your journey even if it's not your normal read, it wasn't mine when I first picked up book one but I now look forward to the next instalment.

Another thriller that I just couldn't put down! The psychic team just gets better and better, really hope there's more to come. A thoroughly good read.
