Spear & Jackson 4053BS Razorsharp Blade Sharpener

Bought as an additional back-up to our 30 year old felco scecateurs which are still going strong . On receipt of the new Spear and Jackson pair, I went straight into my garden , choosing some challenging plant growth to prune. They performed faultlessly. They look and feel durable, especially with their classic and fuss free design, made from carbon steel . Apart from the outer padding sheath on the handles, there are no plastic, composite or inferior alloy components here to fail! For the £10 I paid, they are an absolute snip if you will pardon the pun . Should my old pair of Felco ever fail, they would cost aprox £50 to replace but to be fair, Felco are very good. However these Spear and Jackson at £10 are mimicking a very similar performance . A definite five star thumbs up from me.

Bought this to sharpen my secateurs as didn't want to throw them out just because they are blunt. Really easy to use and was not too expensive.

Good set of secateurs but be careful not to get your finger accidently trapped when snipping, possibly a design fault. Recommended however.

Ease of use.

I have put the anvil one to a lot of use, and it is still cutting well. The spring back seems to fail after a while and needs some DW40 to get them going again. The pruners are good too, but I use them less.

I've had these for two years at this point and they've been an absolute workhorse. Sturdy construction and no frills. Suitable for pretty much anything that can fit the jaws. The best part is they can be easily disassembled for cleaning/sharpening. I know these will last me a lifetime (assuming I don't lose them in a flowerbed)

Easy to hold and handle, easy to snip away- pretty sharp and for all the people who know gardening, the little lever to keep it closed- STAYS CLOSED. I actually had a pair of these and my mom was visiting me and was impressed so I bought her own pair for Christmas. Not too long ago I got a different pair (cheaper) and the little lever kept coming down and locking it so I had to constantly unlock it.ANNOYING.

I like these so much better than Corona brand, which are easily available in local stores but never seem to keep sharp for long. The handle shape for the S& J is great and comfortable and razor-sharpness is true. The only fault is the red handle covers slip off, but not a big deal as I glued it on, otherwise I would have rated five stars.

These are affordable and will last me a lifetime. I did have some edge rolling at first, but you can easily fix it like you would with a kitchen knife. Now that I honed the edge, I can cut my grape vines and go inside and slice clean through a thin plastic grocery bag with ease. They stay sharp! Take care of your tools, oil them, maintain the edge and they'll last forever. Also buy a CLC (Custom Leather Craft) Work Gear NO. 418 pouch. They're a great pair, the cutters fit inside like they were made for one another. I have used these for many gardening tasks, but I primarily use them for tending my grapes. The woody grape vines are tough and have ruined countless more expensive cutters. These are fantastic.
