Mercer Culinary M22707 Millennia Black Handle, 7-Inch Granton Edge, Santoku Knife

I have purchased many bread knives over the years, always trying hard not to spend a fortune on any particular knife, sadly this has proved to be a false economy though, if I'd known what I know now, I would have just saved up and bought a far better knife the first time, hindsight can be a wonderful thing!What I can say about this purchase is that, thus far, I am very impressed!Yes, it's certainly not the cheapest, but saying that, it's also far from being too expensive.I have used it to cut very fresh, artisan bread and it has coped very well.Applying very little pressure and sawing away, sliced the bread evenly and as thinly as I wanted, without destroying the loaf!I like the extra length to the blade than all previous bread knives I've used.It feels well balanced too and obviously, nice and sharp.Even though this is strictly a bread knife, I actually tried it to carve a roasted joint of beef and it sliced that nice and thinly, an excellent result!Some other reviews have mentioned not liking the texture of the handle, but I don't have any issues with that at all.I pop mine in the dishwasher and it appears to be holding up well.I would say, considering the price paid for this bread knife, it is well worth buying, I am very impressed!Hopefully it will last, only time will tell, but certainly the best value bread knife I have ever bought and I've had quite a few!

I am so impressed honestly, I decided to spend a bit more and I'm so glad I did. Never had a bread knife I have to be as careful with as I would be with my freshly sharpened Japanese steel flat bladed knives. I use it to cut crusts off brown bread and have halved the amount of waste bread created, I've also knicked my finger nails near every time as I'm getting used to it.The grip is excellent but I wouldn't suggest this if you have mobility issues that cause hand shaking unless you're sure as I have hypermobility and have to be so careful as a result. Not saying abled bodied people don't have accidents with knives but I felt it bare mentioning as this knife is actually amazingly sharp and beautifully thin, both of which increase the risk for people with a whole host of mobility issues. On the other side of the coin, I have to use so much less force, next to none actually so that could actually be a plus mobility issue wise at it's a very solid, grippy, well balanced and slender long knife.Overall I couldn't be happier.

Sharpened on the correct side for right handed people. Good quality. Could pay three times the amount for same quality

My local baker unfortunately has stopped his bread slicing service and I was looking for a suitable knife. This knife completely exceeded my expectations - such a fantastic knife, it goes through my sourdough bread like butter without squashing it. I hesitated buying it because of the low price doubting the quality, but shouldnt have worried. This is an absolute find and such excellent quality, you cant go wrong with this product!

This knife is a good length, nice and sharp and a good price, so I’m happy to recommend it.I searched for ages and read many reviews before choosing this knife. It is serrated on only one side, so care is need to cut straight, but it’s no problem and the knife cuts so well. There are far more expensive knives that are the same - out of them all I choose this for the good reviews it already has (thanks everyone!), the price and the length.Great knife.

The instant you hold it in your hand you just know it is quality....it's nicely weighted, is comfortable to hold....and the moment you cut your first slice of bread it feels like you are cutting with a laser....it is super sharp and we love it.

I am 5ft 2” and have small hands. Too many tools and appliances are made for taller folk with bigger hands. So these small paring knives are heaven sent for me. They fit in the hand so comfortably and are long lasting and good value. I panicked when I couldn’t find the one I’ve had for some years, thinking it had gone in the bin with peelings, so ordered a new one. This new one is excellent, I am very happy and can recommend. Btw the old knife did turn up in the dishwasher as good as new.

Good bread knife. Cuts well. Stood up to a couple years banging around commercial kitchens and life in an agency chefs knife roll.

I had occasion to debone a large pork butt roast (12 lbs) and I used a hunting knife. It was OK, sharp as you like, but not flexible.This knife is sharp as a scalpel and it will make it much easier for the next pork butt which is in my freezer now.

Our farm raises and butchers our own chicken and pigs. These knives work great for deboning, they even hold their edge for quite a while. Bought 4 of them because I like them so much.

The Mercer fillet knife is awesome! I mainly use this knife to cut chicken breast in half. Previously I would have to cut the chicken breast while is was still frozen, but will this very sharp fillet knife I can easily cut thawed chicken breast. I like the knife so much that I purchased another that I will use for fruits and vegetables. I use this knife more that my high brand name knives. Great purchase.

Made in Taiwan which I’ll support! Very sharp and appears to be awesome! I haven’t used it yet but I’m sure it’ll utmost quality when I use it. The blade isn’t as flexible as I thought but it’s very strong with a very comfortable grip.

Excellent bread knife. Very sharp! ordered another brand before this one and should have returned it. IT was awful. Would definitely recommend this mercer.
