intel i5 6600k
Upgraded from phenom ii x 4 960 which i ran at 3.9ghzfitted to gigabyte z170 K3 motherboard (great sound and o/c) which seem excellent combinationmy system samsung ssd/corsair h80igt cooling/16gb corsair vengeance ram/gtx 980with the z170 motherboard the overclocking potential is impressive (i did give it quick try) but find its quick enough at 3.9ghz for all the games i play and everything else !with h80igt (from my old system) it runs under 45c at 100% (idle under 25c) 3.9ghz 4+ hours) my pc gets lot of useits twice as fast to boot up as old system and am very happy with performancefitting these 1151 processors is different .. pins being on the m/b ... you have to put quite firm pressure on lever and makes interesting noise ... but had no problems ... very happy with thiis processor i use pc for games 80% of time with bit of video editing etc rest of time ... and am more than impressed and havent felt need to overclock .. although i did give it a quick try just to see ! and the potential is impressiveit was £213 when i bought it ... so very happy ! definetly recommend this if upgrading

Excellent performance and temperatures
Excellent performance and temperatures. It is not big step from previous generations, so not worth the upgrade, but if you are building new PC from the scratch this is superb gaming CPU.On stocks it is clearly slower than i7 6700K but when you overclock both processors 6600K performs almost identicaly. 6600K has no HyperThreading and 6MB L3 Cache, opposed to i7's 8MB L3 Cache. However it overclocks to 4.6 Ghz in majority of cases, and few people can go beyond on air (I got 4.7Ghz). Core i7 chips are taken from the centre of the waffer so they overclock better but only about 100 Mhz.If the performance is not GPU bottlenecked, this beast runs Witcher 3 on 100 fps, 6700K runs it just about 5 fps more. The lack of hyperthreading may show if you are streaming your games on Twitch or if you do some editing. Otherwise I can recommend this to anybody who is building future-proof rig.

Wonderful CPU for most people.
Firstly this CPU is great for gaming, 4 cores is plenty for pretty much any game, and even on some of the most CPU intensive games I've played on my machine, the CPU never goes above 70% usage. Therefore if you are looking for a good CPU that has plenty of power for everyday and gaming use then I cannot recommend this CPU enough. However the 6600k does lack performance in some areas, the lack of hyper-threading means it suffers in CPU heavy tasks, for example it takes about 20 minutes to render a 1080p 30fps video on Adobe Premier Pro. Thus the i7 line with hyper-threading or a coffee lake series CPU would be better matched to these tasks. But all in all, I cannot fault this CPU, if you can get it for less than £140 like I did, then it is a truly brilliant chip! However if you really need the extra horsepower then perhaps this may not be the CPU for you, as other options would provide a better experience.

Hugely powerful, and overclocks like a dream
This is proving to be one beast of a processor. It's powerful, cool, and energy efficient. The 6600K is worth it if you're going to overclock; I've currently got mine sitting happy at 4.5gHz, and it barely tops 50°c when stressed out. It's worth bearing in mind this doesn't come with a stock cooler, but if you're going to overclock, you wouldn't want the stock one - unless you were planning to fry some bacon and eggs on it. In some respects the price hike from the 6600 to the 6600K is pretty large, but consider this: my 6600K now outperforms an (admittedly stock) i7 6700K, and I reckon it still has an extra 100-200 mHz left in it if I'm brave enough to give the voltage another boost. Can't say fairer than that!

This processor is a BEAST!
As this is a K type processor it does not come with a heatsink and fan. It's meant to be overclocked, so it'd be pointless bundling a stock fan you'd never use.Anyway, fresh out the gate and on my AsRock Z170M Pro4S motherboard it easily hit a stable solid 4.4ghz just by selecting a single option. Temps hold steady at around 60 degrees even whille being hammered by Prime 95. I'm running a Hyper 212 Evo cooler.I'm easily betting I could have this up to a stable 4.6ghz or higher, but there's just no point. No games I own even begin to bottleneck this thing so going higher would just be for bragging rights. At least until heavy CPU-bound games start arriving...

Whereas some new PC builders may feel they need the best CPU on the market
Having owned a 3570k for years, I knew not to look any further than the 6600k.Whereas some new PC builders may feel they need the best CPU on the market, the Intel i5 6600k offers fantastic performance for those who want to overclock their system. The i5 is perfect for gaming machines. The product comes perfectly packaged, Intel have never failed to make their packaging to look cheap or 'tacky'. Also, it is fantastic that they stopped including the stock heatsink with these, as the majority of people buying a K processor will be overclocking almost immediately. Can't fault this item, can't see Intel doing something anything for me to stop having faith in them. Fantastic product.

5/5 Good product.
I got this cpu as i was on a budget but also needed a powerful cpu, now the 6600k is the best cpu i have had it really does perform in games and also in other things you could use this cpu to stream if youre looking for that sort of thing, i overclocked this at 4.2ghz which is perfect i get a steady 45 degree's while playing games which is fantastic. I only have a cm hyper 212 cooler, but the temps stay low. I give this product a 5/5 for the price 5/5 for performance. Buy this cpu if you need a new cpu and you are on a budget you wont be disappointed..

£100 Well Saved!
This can only be an initial reaction. I had shortlisted a gaming motherboard because I wanted a fast and reliable computer for photo processing with scope for editing videos in the longer term. This CPU has good scope for overclocking if needed and was about £100 cheaper than the i7 - money which could probably be better spent on a better graphics board. If money had not been a constraint then I probably would have gone for the top product.
