Excellent kit for beginners and medium skilled artists
I got this as a quick travel kit something so I can just grab it and go ... so far it has worked out nicely ... The charcol is decent and lays on the paper smoothly. I like how pencils sharpen and behave in my hand. Its a very good non-professional kit.

Pretty OK sketching set
The pencils comes pre-sharpened, as well a some of the charcoals. I like the fact that they made it complete. There was a knife, a rubber eraser, a kneaded eraser (which is my favorite kind), and an eraser that comes embedded into a pencil body. I literally have never seen that kind of eraser before, but you can see how that's useful in a swatch video. It is indeed, very useful for erasing thin, controlled lines. The pencils have a wide range supposedly from 5H - 12B. I would say you can feel the range of the Bs more than the Hs. The Hard leads are kinda similar-feeling after drawing with them. I wish they were a bit harder, especially 5H so it can create lighter lines. But it's just my personal preference. At the end of the day, you can always go lighter with your control. The Bs on the other hand are very wide-ranged. It can really go dark. I like it.The charcoals have a good range of colors on the warm side. Good for portrait mostly, and maybe daytime nature. You can bring in a cool toned set easily, I'm not a charcoal person but I tried them, and they range mostly in the "medium" softness of the charcoal lead. There is a sharpener in this set, actually. But it got blunt after like the 4th pencil I sharpened. It was sharp, but my sharpener died too soon lol

Very good quality
This set includes a large selection of very good quality drawing tools plus a case for it all at a great price. My teenager daughter loves to draw and was excited that this set gave her some new things to try. She absolutely loves the colored charcoal pencils for their soft core and rich pigment, and the kneaded eraser is easy to shape for touching up small details. Everything in the set is really good.

Not exactly a painting tool, but a nice case with many drawing supplies.
This set of charcoal and graphite pencils comes in a high-quality zipper case with a handy wrist strap for carrying it. In fact, the case may be the most impressive part of this drawing set.The range of pencils and related supplies looks impressive. However, I'm not sure what to do with some of the included tools. For example, there's a snap-blade cutting tool that I suppose could be used to shave a point on the pencils, but there's also a small regular pencil sharpener as well.As an artist, I like this kit's various graphite pencils for sketching. They're nice, heavy pencils covering a wide range of hardness levels.I'm also a big fan of kneaded rubber erasers; the one in this set is fairly solid and will need a lot of kneading to use, but a little goes a very long way. This one could last for years. The included plastic eraser does an excellent job of erasing, leaving an extremely fine residue that's easy to sweep off.The white gel pen is a quirky addition, but it covers some sketched lines pretty well. The pen point is extremely fine, which is useful if you just need to cover a slight slip of the pencil.Trying to cover or even fade out a broader line... not so good. However, these charcoal pencils aren't what I'd expected. The color range is odd. There's no blue in the set, and just one green. The yellow is so pale, it's almost white; but there are also two white charcoal pencils.Three shades of brown, a grey, an orange color, and a bright red charcoal pencil complete the set.I'm not certain what I'd be sketching with these charcoal pencils, to make use of such a limited palette. Pink and red garden flowers, perhaps, but the lack of a blue pencil would be the real challenge for some artists. For me, an even bigger issue is how difficult it is to smudge or blend these charcoal pencils. The leads are quite hard.Using the included smudge sticks with pressure, the charcoal pencils smudged somewhat, but not as much as I'd like.(See my photo of the tests I ran. Using the black charcoal pencils, I tried to smudge the full range: soft, medium, and hard. Results with the pink charcoal pencil were better, but not quite ideal.)If you're looking for a well-packaged, easy-to-carry set of sketching pencils and hard charcoal pencils, this may be a fine set.For typical charcoal work, particularly smudging your drawing to blend light and dark areas or multiple colors, this set may not meet your needs. However, the carrying case is noteworthy. I may repurpose it for my other art supplies for sketching and travel journaling.
