Battery Base for Echo Dot (5th generation), Made for Amazon White

IWith out being prompted, I just had to write a review for this Amazon Echo base to help others sort a problem I've had for a long time. I already own an Echo device, but I wanted music/radio in the bathroom where there is no power socket. For a long time I've struggled with other brands of Alexa enabled portable speakers. I want to be able to just say Alexa play ..... first thing in the morning when going for a shower without going into an app. Then I discovered almost by accident, that this Alexa battery stand does exactly what I need. Just unplug and go, then pop the connector back when finished. It makes the Echo device completely portable. As the Echo has a temperature sensor, I can take it to the greenhouse to ensure the tomatoes are not too hot or even outside in the garden when having a BBQ. It's important to know it works on the house Wi-fi, so can't be taken out of range. Instructions state battery lasts 5 hours although I've not used on just battery power for that long. It's been fine for my needs. When not using the battery, it just sits in the cradle charging with clever technology stopping it from over charging. If your Echo is already set up, then this simply plugs in. I was moments away from buying a different brand speaker when I found this stand.

Great item but does not have a on or off button. So its constantly on, even when echo dot is not on - waste of charge

Never had an Alexa becore so still getting used to it, but I like that with the battery base you can u olug it and take it around the house with you (eg when I am getting ready in the morning it comes to the bathroom, bedroom and then where I put on makeup!

This battery base looks good and is simple to set up. However, the battery life is extremely short. It also seems that there is no off switch for the base. This means that if you use the base for half an hour and then switch the Alexa off, the battery base continues to run down its battery. This means that every time you go back to use it, the battery is dead. I was hoping for a base that I could leave in my bathroom for a few days at a time before having to recharge, but it isn’t fit for that purpose.

Very stable with a non slippy base, the Amazon dot fits into it like a glove , the cable between base and dot perfect fit, unit with dot has a solid feel about it, I use it in the bathroom while showering and shaving (it's not in the shower)

Bought this for my elderly mother-in-law as she injured herself in the bathroom one day and was trapped for hours, so as she was used to using an echo dot and could make a phonecall from it if needed, we needed a solution so we could have an echo dot in the bathroom and not need to worry about cables etc. So we bought another echo dot and this battery base unit so she could use the echo dot to call us for help if she gets stuck again, great idea at the time, but this battery base battery lifespan was shockingly little in reality! At full charge, and not even using the echo dot for anything, it still completely drained the charge in this base unit in less than a day! Making this completely and utterly useless! I would have thought even if the echo dot is not used for anything at all, that we would get at least a few days to a week of standby time, but less than 24h is terrible! On top of that, the charging time on this is ridiculous, it takes just as long to charge it as it does for it to discharge without even using it, it takes hours to charge it, for such a tiny amount of output! This has to be one of the worst battery backup devices ever made, it's almost as if its using battery technology from 20 years ago! But we're stuck with this thing now as too much time went past before we first used it so can't return it, so it's just become an expensive stand for the echo dot!

First impression out of the box is this is a quality product seems well built . Don’t lose the the small attachment you’ll need this to ensure you echo is connected to the battery base . Can’t comment on the claimed battery life yet but early indications it works as as intended without a hitch . Definitely recommend this at the moment but hoping it remains robust .

Lo primero de todo: cumple su función perfectamente. Puedes llevarte el dispositivo dónde quieras y seguir escuchando lo que quieras pero...¿tanto costaba ponerle un par de extras? Imposible saber la carga que queda si te lo llevas, no hay un triste medidor por ningún sitio. Lo mismo ocurre con el tiempo de carga: no hay manera de saber si se cargó del todo o no. Por último un detalle de diseño: el minicable que une el ECHO con el dispositivo queda flojo. A veces al llevarlo de un sitio a otro y dejarlo pierde la conexión y se apaga unos segundos o directamente deja de funcionar y ahi que iniciarlo de nuevo. Resumiendo hace lo que pides pero se podría mejorar
