Ordered for my girlfriend's new-found interest in Bonsai (and I confess I find it a charming pastime to watch and appreciate too). She started with "Charlie" (she names all her Bonsai trees, don't ask me why), who even to my untrained eye was in dire need of a trim, and snipped gently and sensitively away, pruning him a little, then used a couple of short lengths of this purpose-made Bonsai wire to hold a couple of his upper branches in a flatter pose. Thankfully for Charlie these wires hold their shape very softly, so there's no chafing or gouging of the bark, which would of course be unpleasant for the tree. Overall it seems really good stuff (hence the 5 stars) and not too bad on a value-for-money front either, as measuring carefully means you won't get much waste so a packet should enable you to look after a forest-worth of small trees. This bonsai wire has some kind of shiny black plasticised coating on the aluminium instead of classic matt anodised brown-black. It definitely lacks the traditional authentic look of regular bonsai wire, but that's certainly not to say it's inferior from a functional point of view. From first impressions, it does the same job and does it fine...just not as attractive (in my opinion). It should probably state that it's coated in plastic in the item description or title for those looking for the traditional anodized aluminium bonsai wire because I didn't know that until it arrived.

I saw some Bonsai wire in a garden centre. It was nearly £5 for a small spool! Whilst I had to be patient and wait a while I received 3 large spools of high quality Bonsai wire of different thicknesses! Arrived as promised and all the way from China! Excellent.
