Winter must have
The price of decent cast iron cookware can be very expensive but it can last a lifetime if you use it properly. This Staub cast iron is covered with double-glazed enamel so you don't have to season it after you've done your cooking. The heat capacity is high = it takes longer to heat but it can keep warm for a longer period of time. Especially good for stewing. The smaller ones (14 cm / 16 cm) could be used as a tableware during cold weather. It could keep your food warm for over 30 minutes (of coz it's getting cooler but in a much slower rate than normal tableware).

Love your cooking, love your food, buy a cocotte or two.
It keeps the heat wonderfully and the lid retains the liquid as intended. Just like a proper cocotte, but small size (16cm diameter) - for making anything from breakfast cereal, side dish, or heat up leftovers for one. No need for a long handle - this baby is heavy and will not race around when you mix ingredients in it.If you are used to teflon, just watch a few videos how to cook sensibly to prevent sticking, and always heat or cool it slowly. You can use very very low heat setting once its hot.

As good as Le Creuset and some pans are even better
I’ve always thought that only Le Creuset made the best cast iron pans until I discovered Staub. They are top quality and are especially good for smaller pans for 2 - 3 people. They have dimples inside the lids that catch the steam and drip it back into the pans, ensuring moist and jucy meat. I have only seen these on the massive Le Creuset oval roaster that costs over £300. Highly Recommended.

Beautifully formed, lovely to look at, works a treat but over priced.
Very expensive, in fact like another well known French make over priced. I bought a similar sized cast iron dish in a local super market 2/3rds cheaper and just as good quality. Like 'the other' make you are paying for a name. There is no doubting the quality and of course it works beautifully well, if you want one to make a meal for one, which was my plan, I would say this one is a little small, if I could rewind my life a few weeks I would buy the next size up.If you want to impress people and let them think you are rich or if you are rich go for it.

The quality is simply amazing!!
Amazing,I have used Le Creset before and these are just in a league of their own, overnight porridge in the AGA is so different it hasn't dried out like it used to with le Creuset. I really think the dimpled lid must make all the difference. The Grey looks amazing and the whole thing is just quality quality quality. Looking forward to buying more sizes over the coming months! This is proper enamel finish and not sprayed paint like the Creuset, when you put them together theres simply no comparison and well worth the extra money. They will last for ever!

Perfect little casserole dish (14")
Beautifully made and cooks excellent stews and all-in-one dishes in a portion size perfect for 1 or 2. The lid has integral basting which makes a big difference to cooking on top of the hob. Chicken is perfectly tender, for example and the resulting 'sauce' is very flavourful. Highly recommended. I bought a second for my mother who also finds it great for cooking for one.

Great little versatile pot
Love this mini Staub pot. I will use it as a Salt Pig mostly, but can also see it using it for baking. Beautiful color.
