Brani1.One Hundred Years2.A Short Term Effect3.The Hanging Garden4.Siamese Twins5.The Figurehead6.A Strange Day7.Cold8.Pornography Review: One of their best albums - I have always loved The Cure, and this is one of their best albums. Ive had it on vinyl for years, so have got it on cd Review: Chilling, dark and brilliant - still - I can’t believe how good this still sounds after over three decades. My memory of it was of something huge and dark and muddy....but the muddiness, it transpires, was due to the fact that – as a cash-strapped teenager – I had rented the album from the record library (do you remember RECORDS?) and taped it on a cheapie cassette tape (do you remember CASSETTE TAPES??) So it’s not entirely surprising that I thought it was muddy, specially as I listened to it about ten thousand times and probably wore out the tape. The power of these eight brief tracks is that I still know all the lyrics and – slightly worryingly – they are still appropriate in my life. They still echo everything I feel...it seems you don’t ever really stop being a teenager; you just get better at pretending. Unlike the other Goth stuff I was listening to at the time, this one has held up the best. I didn’t hear anything that tore my heart out quite as much until I discovered Marilyn Manson’s Antichrist Superstar about six years ago. I’m not a huge Cure fan and never liked their pop singles much. For me, this was what it was really all about – the darkest, darkest night of the soul, the dread of living, every breath is death. This is brilliant stuff. It’s not just noise either – the drums are huge but so are the tunes. Melody isn’t sacrificed and each track is exquisite with its own beauty. Robert Smith’s vocals are chilling with despair and hatred and I find myself going around with various lyrics echoing inside my head, particularly The Figurehead, which was my favourite track and still is: “....and someone will listen at least for a short while.” I used to hope that someone did. I haven’t received the CD yet but I downloaded the digital, remastered version, and haven’t stopped listening to it for four days on my newly installed desertcart Music player (which took all of a second to download.) I’ve become as obsessional about it now as I was thirty years ago. You know something is good if it lasts that long.

One for the real Cure fans and those who like less upbeat, heavy music :-)
This certainly won't be very accessible for those who are not at least half way "fans of The Cure" but it's brilliant. Track 6 for me one of their best tracks from the entire Cure Catalogue. I love The Cure for guitar and drum , not so much for melody and many fans will understand what I am referring to but bluster and pomp aside, this is a fabulous album but I would stream it first if you are not familiar with early-ish Cure.

not bad
had this years back so was great to hear the early cure sound again with no vinyl clicks on what was probably my favourite album.A strange day was as good as ever and the popular 100yrs and hanging garden stand out as the oldie favourites.Disc 2 is nothing special containing some poorly recorded live tracks( but not awfull) from the period but what was nice was the studio demo songs some instrumentals and a good early version of hanging gdn,100 yrs plus a couple of little surprises.Probably worth paying the extra cash for the 2nd disc.

A mournful classic
The Cure at their miserable best, slaughtered pigs and all. A classic with an added disc of rarities, an excellent package.

Every Cure fan should own this record!
I'd been after this version of Pornography on vinyl for a few years now. And after listening to it against the original 1982 vinyl and Robert Smith's remastered vinyl version, I really have to disagree with the comments others are making here regarding sound quality. High, mid, and low ends are well separated. And there's plenty of low end going on, both in synthesizer drones and Simon Gallup's bass, which is how I like to listen to my music. But at no time does it get muddy. Vocals (and there are a lot of them on this record) are clear and as decipherable as they're ever going to get. As for content, well if you've heard the album before then you know its no upbeat joyride. From the opening drum pattern of "One Hundred Years" till the abrupt ending of the title track, its an exercise in doom, gloom, paranoia, and pessimism. Which, given the relationships within the group at the time of recording, is hardly surprising. But the musicianship and production are brilliant. Easily the Cure's finest moment (IMO) and the final act of their first four albums' chartered course from new wave/post-punk to gothic splendour. Its little wonder Bauhaus split up not long after this album was released. 10/10

Amazing ...I will never be clean again
Wow what an album I was told a few years ago that if I wanted to start listening to the cure to buy a best of album so I did that and to be honest I was lost the songs were ok but lacked perspective to me ,so I said I would buy one album and listen from start to finish and I brought disintegration and wow I was hooked the cure final made sense and I didn't think I could enjoy any album as much as disintegration but in my opinon pornography has some better songs but I agree the album as a whole maybe not quite as strong but I've probably listened to this more !Buy yourself this album and listen to it a few times and hear it get better and better with each listen buy this if only to listen to the amazingly dark Siamese twin and figurehead which imo is the cures best song ,buy this u deserve it

Imersão no clássico álbum Pornography

Best album of music history
For me as fan of The Cure since I listen music, They Cure is the absolute gold in my music podium. My father gave this vinyl all together with Faith and The Top when I was 14 and I became mad, it really define my soul and what person I became. Robert is the most influence personality for me ever, such a great human being. People says that Disintegration is the best, not for me, Pornography it is. A real fan of The Cure will agree with me, but I mean a real real deep lover fan, since the first tense in 100 years is absolute brain damage. My favorite track is The Figurehead, just buy it and taste the best album ever published

Indispensable!
