Silverline Universal Carpet Cutter 50° Blade Angle (446296)

First time house owner; I needed to take full house worth of carpet up while leaving the underlay in tact and transport it in a small car for disposal, in one weekend. This did the trick! - easy to use, quick and the task was completed without me shredding myself (which is what happens when I use Stanley knives). Excellent product, bought two as they are reasonably priced, and I had read the previous reviews about needing to change the blades, but one did me just fine.

We had to replace the carpeting in our living room so we made sure to get all the right tools. One of the tools which we decided on was this specific universal carpet cutter. It came nicely packaged and on the day the job had to be done it did not disappoint. It cut through the new carpeting like butter and it helped us shape the carpet to match the awkward angles of our living room. The blade provided was rather sharp and did not disappoint. The one disappointing thing with this item it seems the blade loses it's sharpness about 3/4 of the way into the job so if you are going to do a big job/full house make sure you get lots of replacement blades in order to keep going. As for the pricing, I think it is well priced and should definitely satisfy the needs of whoever needs to cut a carpet.

Great for cutting

I would recommend this for cutting short pile carpets with a backing. Flip the carpet on its back, align yourself so the carpet is flat and you can cut in a straight line easily. Just fit the carpet to the blade and push. I am using it to cut up a 10m hall carpet into easily manageable pieces, this product is made for the job. Wouldn't recommend for long pile carpets or for use by people who have little hand strength or disabled.

Bought this based on the good reviews on here in order to cut some carpet tiles I was laying in an out building. Was expecting this to be like a hot knife through butter but found the whole thing tedious and very hard work. Managed to cut into the tile about 2mm in before applying quite a lot of force to get it about a quarter of the way up. Unfortunately, with all the force needed, it did not cut straight. I ended up buying a very sharp carpet knife and finished the job with some satisfaction. This tool may as well go straight to the bin as it is next to useless and trying to find replacement blades is a mission in itself . This could not handle a carpet tile so I doubt it would cope with anything unless it was ultra thin ( but I’m not confident on that either). Utter rubbish

The cutter was a great buy. Allowing to cut quickly with the grain and accurately to replace a piece of carpet quickly and accurately. Going across the grain was more difficult but the design of the handle assists in it feeling comfortable and controllable in your hand.

Good price speedy delivery. Would help to have spare blade included.

Saved a lot of time cutting vinyl. Easy to use and super for large straight cups.

Por el precio, ha cumplido su función. Lo he usado varias veces para cortar cesped artificial y sinceramente, va de lujo. Así puedes cortar en linea recta, cosa que con las tijeras o un cuter, es un tanto difícil y peligroso. Además, ahorras mucho tiempo, porque cortas mucho más rápido.

Fab little gadget at a low price. Takes all the guesswork out of accurately cutting carpet to fit. Used on stair treads with no problems at all!
