Small and basic but works quite well
I bought this as an impulse buy when it was on offer; I already have another air purifier in another room and this was just meant to supplement that one.I was aware that the unit is very basic: it doesn't even have an ioniser. It's also surprisingly small and light which can be a good thing. Part of what attracted me was the supposed 170 cubic meters per hour CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rating) specified in the description which suggested it was quite powerful for it's size. But this seems optimistic and checking the manufacturer's website the independently verified CADR figure (AHAM certified) is actually only about 100. So this is only really suitable for small to medium rooms and needs to run on one of its higher speeds to make a real difference. It seems to do just fine in such environments and I'm perfectly happy with performance. Furthermore power consumption at the highest setting is only 50W which is fairly good efficiency. One problem with this model appears to be the availability of filters for reasonable prices. Just one HEPA filter can cost over £40 on Amazon at times and if you want replacement carbon filters too then it's even worse. Fortunately you can get the filters on Amazon.com (rather than Amazon.co.uk) for a fraction of the price even after delivery. Just search on there for 'honeywell r filter'I hate the top panel, it is sometimes unresponsive and it looks tacky. However, the build quality overall is fine. The unit is still working perfectly after a year and a half.If you need a light and compact air purifier this could be ideal providing you don't need a remote control or ioniser. But the price of this keeps fluctuating all the time and anything over about £100 is too much considering what you can get from other manufacturers such as Xiaomi

Plastic fume smell and extortionate filters
Noise level (not sure if its adv or dis) I got 39DB for setting 1, 44 for setting 2, 47 for 3 and 50 for "Turbo". This is using a smartphone app so cannot be assumed to be completely accurate.Adv:1. The purifier, as it stands out of the box, appears to work ok for the first few days I have tested it. It managed to reduce TVOC reading in one from from 9mg to 6 over the course of a 8 hour run on "general" and "turbo" setting.2. The air inlet appears to be well sealed so no danger of air being sucked in from the sides and bypassing the filter.3. The irritating blue light can be turned off for night time use.Dis:1. After a 30 min run, I could smell plastic fumes from the filter (the smell of cheap plastic when used in electronic devices). This remained after I turned off the purifier and checked the next day. Clearly they have scrimped on the quality of plastic which will heat up due to the motor, and this platsic then starts to release a dangerous smell, kind of defeats the purpose of the purifier. The smell comes out the top (via the "purified" air so the filters don't help!).2. The "activated carbon filter" is very thin and in some places almost see through so not sure how good it's working. Replacement ones are st upidly priced (following the same principle the printer manufacturs have used, to make money on the consumables). I recommend to check the review of "Jeff Walmsley" and get cheaper/better carbon filters.3. The top touch buttons don't always respond and sometimes need 2 or 3 presses by the finger to work.4. Air comes out the top and no way to direct it.Ultimately I would not buy this again as I'd expected a better quality product from Honeywell especially the cheaper plastic and plastic fume smell from the motor. I am currently trying to "off gas" this smell by keeping it on for hours.

Some like it hot
Well my girlfriend swears it does nothing. It has definitely pulled in some dust as I can see it on the filter but I wonder whether it is strong enough to really pull in particles from an area more than 1m around it. I don't know, I like it, seems like a good brand.

Great product
Great product. You will see after a couple of weeks how many dust particles get on the filter. Noise is relatively low and doesn't really get noticed . More than anything I feel it circulating air and purifiers it at the same time.
