Easy to Use, so far so good
Purchased to back up files from 2 PC's and 3 mobile devices.Easy to setup, does what it says it would do. Occasionally loses connection to my PC, but very easy to reconnect and file manage from Windows File Explorer.Very useful when away from home and I need to access a file.Excellent purchase at a reasonable price.

Does everything its supposed to
I got this on Prime Day so rushed in and had it for £149, then after reading some of the other reviews I thought I had made a mistake and would be returning it.I was wrong! This was easy to set up and does everything it is supposed to. I have backed up my PC with no problems with the Windows 10 built in back up solution, I have backed up my Android phone and my daughters Apple phone, I have backed up just under 1TB in photos and documents etc. I also use it as a plex server and have watched a few films over the weekend with no issues. I'm not sure why people have so many issues with it but as long as you know what your local network (inside your house) speed is capable of and are not expecting super fast transfer speeds when backing up thousands of photos as the indexing system does need some time to work and can slow the transfer down which is to be expected then you will have no problem. I cant comment on long term performance as I have had it less than a week but for peace of mind and ease of use I think its a great piece of kit and fully recommend it!

This will not backup a Windows PC/Laptop
I bought this to back up my laptop. Biggest mistake I have done in years. This is some of what it says on Amazon Easy to use, the My Cloud home storage device plugs directly into your Wi-Fi router at home so you can save all your digital content in one central placeAutomatically back up the photos and videos on your phone and wirelessly back up and sync your PC and Mac computers and cloud accounts.1Store and organise all the photos, videos, music and files from all your devices in one central place. Compatible with Windows 7 (64-bit only) or later and Mac OS X v10.10 or later. For mobile, compatible with iOS 9+ and Android Marshmallow (6.0) or higher operating systems. This is what some else said on the WD website One of the main reasons I purchased My Cloud Home was to back up other computers on my home network. I have installed the drive on my network and it is recognized by Windows Explorer [as Joshua’s My Cloud Home (Z:)] and I can store files on it. but I can’t get backup software to work. I installed WD Discovery and then WD Backup. When I run WD Backup it identifies my DropBox account as a potential target for backup storage, but it does not identify the My Cloud Home drive. I then downloaded the installation file for Acronis True Image WD Edition (Version 18), but it does not install the program, apparently because it cannot identify that a WD drive is installed on the network. Is this some kind of issue with network permissions that I need to fix or does is this network drive incapable of being a target for backing up my computer? After all that this is what he had to do....Have given up! taken back to PC World and got a refund (they were Brilliant) not the first they’ve had back so i was told.So two years later...This is exactly the same problem I have. He is more tech savvy than me and exhausted multiple avenues with different Backup software people working on his computer still unable to get the back up function to work. This is a clear desception on the part of the description for this product I would have been better off printing my files and storing them in a bucket ..at least i would know I had access to them!

Great product but a little bit tricky to get started
Great product. However it can be tricky to follow the start-up instructions. Instruction may not be up to date as you also have to download the appbefore you are able to proceed. Also the password in the box may not work at first, strange !!. But keep trying as it will work eventually. Slow to upload long videos or big files. But once you can see past these issues you are good to go and you wont regret it. I will still recommend it as it has allowed me to clear my phone and never have to worry again about storage on my phone. From the app you have direct access to all your files, can share, add users, delete...

Great
After purchasing this item and setting it up, i stumbled apon what i thought my have been an issue, very loud disc movements. Typically, i googled this and was presented with alot of negative information and began to regret my purchase. However, this is not a fault, or an issue anymore. Please understand this is a computer, and it does indeed organise the disc at times, and especially when new backups of large files (my primary use) have been made. This allows faster access and good disc speeds. The initial turning on and data loading of the device had caused the drive to organise for about 4 hours late at night after having had alot of data sent. After 24 hours, and now, a few months later, i hear the occasional disc write as it backs up data from my laptop and mobile device. This i a great drive and i am glad i have ignored those found reviews.
