Schwarzkopf LIVE Urban Metallics Vibrant, Long Lasting, Permanent Purple Hair Dye, Infused with Coconut Oil for Shiny Hair - Amethyst Chrome U69

I used the Amethyst Chrome on my hair which is a medium brown with highlights. Some of the brown is dyed over the highlights and I had this done 2 weeks ago by a hair dresser using salon dyes.I wanted to use Amethyst Chrome for purple highlights and I was very surprised with the results. Exactly what I wanted! I have had this done previously, but done by a senior stylist at a credible salon who used a different purple dye and it was horrible, so decided to try this kit and do it at home.Firstly, my husband applied the dye onto parts of my hair which we selected together and wrapped those sections in strips of kitchen foil.Secondly, we did not apply the dye onto the roots/scalp, only close to them as I was worried it would stain my skin purple. I did stain my hand purple by accident, but found the dye came off my skin after having a shower.Lastly, I left the dye in the foil for 60 minutes, not 30 minutes which the box states.Once the 60 minutes was up, I rinsed my hair in warm water in the shower until the water colour from my hair ran clear.Then I washed my hair in sulfate free shampoo, it’s important to do this as sulfate shampoos are known to strip colour (head and shoulders are the worst!). For me I use living proof curl shampoo.The conditioner included is excellent. Every week I soak my hair in Jamaican Mango & Lime Original Black Castor oil and leave in over night before washing. I found the conditioner that came with the dye kit gave me similar results, yet I had only left it in my hair for 30 minutes. If you use the Castor oil method, be warned the oil soaks into pillow cases so I use a case I’m not bothered about and it washes okay.The end result, vibrant colour that did not bleed into the highlights that I have in my hair. I will for sure be using this again.I think it’s important to add, there is no such thing as permanent purple dye (as hair dresser informed me). It will just stay in longer than semi permanent. It will eventually wash out without a trace, but to keep it in as long as possible, always use sulfate free shampoo and don’t wash you hair in hot water, try to keep it cool.Please note, phone struggled to capture the colour accurately, but it is much nicer in real life.Hope this review helps.

Easy to use clear instructions and works pretty well, has lasted about 2 weeks so far in my hair and is still vibrant, I applied to dark brown hair with bleached blonde parts and the colour took to the dark brown almost as well as the bleached parts and looks pretty even all over. Lots of product for the price I didn’t even need to use all of it

So I know there are loads of bad reviews on here and other places about this particular colour and how it doesn't take very well and it fades extremely fast. BUT I will tell you NOT to put it on anything other then bleached hair. On the box it says to put on dark blonde, light brown or dark brown hair but if you do it won’t go the colour you expect it to. I have shoulder length hair, the top part is my natural dirty blonde and the rest of my hair is bleached. It came out amazing on my bleached hair. A really nice purple colour. But on my natural hair it wasn’t AS nice and it looks like it’s old faded dye as you can see from the picture. I am going to get my hair bleached from root to tip in a few weeks and then I will apply this dye again so it comes out even. Also if you have longer then shoulder length hair you will need 2 boxes… I barely had enough for Mine and it came out slightly patchy as I couldn’t fully saturate my hair. I always use live hair dye as I find my hair loves it and it feels a lot healthier after using a live dye compared to any other ones I’ve tried. Used to do my hair a raspberry red and wanted a change. I love this purple colour a lot so it’ll be worth getting the right base colour to put this over so it comes out nice. I recommend this colour but only if you have bleached hair. Or even a very bright blonde colour. Anything darker then that, this dye will not go on as expected

Must admit to being a bit biased as have used this brand for a very long time.However some of the newer dyes don't take to my hair very well and the formula has changed on some of the older dyes making them less reliable.Took a punt on purple and this doesn't disappoint. Obviously it's darker after application but does fade up nicely to a good shade of a rich purple colour.Doesn't bleed much but is red based so prewarning it does stick around.Didn't need to bleach out put over blue and took really well

I really like the colour of this it was not like on the packet but much darker but I suppose it depends what colour you are putting it over

I just love this colour.I use it for an under layer , sort of quarter head at the back, so about 2 inches show from the ends up , and obviously more shows with movement.I have blonde as main colour.I'm an older woman. Everyone loves the mixture of blonde and purple.If I have my hair up or in a ponytail for work, the purple obviously is on show a lot more.Highly recommend.Colour lasts a long time.I do leave it on longer than the recommended time, only because that seems to work better for me , as it's covering grey hair and the last bits of original brunette hair colour.Just love it
