I've now purchased 6 of these and they work excellently. I have hard ground and they bore into the ground with average level effort. If you get them, use a level when they screw portion is fully below ground. You'll have 4-5 more turns (maybe a few more) after that but it's very helpful to square up the base before having to back it out and level it and rerun it into the ground that you just softened up. I use a piece of PVC pipe as a sleeve inside that my umbrellas then slip perfectly into. This allows me to have an extra firm fit on the pole and using the adjuster screws to ensure the pole is straight is ideal. I also drill a hold and run a pin with a cotter clip through the entire housing so that the housing, the pvc pipe, and the umbrella pole are rock solid without the need for any added support. Sounds complicated, but is really not hard to do and again, they work great.

This anchor works good, but it's also pretty heavy, so I returned it.

This unit was easy to install and seems to be very sturdy. I would recommend giving this a try. Holds 2” pole securely.

I purchased this to use for a pond. My pond sits above ground poolside. I am now able to put a beautiful umbrella over my pond. I could not do that before, as the stand was too big. Fabulous. Nice and strong, easy to set up and it stays put!!!!!!!!!

Rusted and snapped off after one season

I use this to set up a handmade bird feeder. It works very well.
