I copied the image file but winzip had trouble with it. i have an image off centre cannot access lower icons mouse needed no touch facility. ideas?

I had the same problem. I made a fresh instal of rasperberian. Then went to the Waveshare site and manually changed the screen setup. It worked. You will also find that the touch will work in Pixel without the additional code given on the Waveshare site. There is also a good You Tube instructional. Again type in browser Waveshare 5 inc screen. Hope that helps.

will this work as an external monitor for my dslr or does it only work for rasberry pi?

I wouldnt count on it working on anything else than RPi, they seem to be selling model B which suposedly works with a pc so it might work with a dslr too.
