Great guitar stand
The is a great guitar stand for the money. It is very sturdy, and the swing clip that clips over the neck ensures the guitar cannot be accidentally knocked off the stand. It is height adjustable, and is large enough to accommodate either my electric or my acoustic guitar, so I intend to buy another of these stands so that I have one for each. All the contact points are very well padded with a rubber sponge type material which ensures that the guitar will not get damaged, and also grips the guitar ensuring it stays exactly where you put it.The only negatives are that if you have a varnished guitar the padding can damage the finish (there is a very small sticker on the bottom of the upright that states this), but these could be wrapped in tape or fabric to prevent this, and that the part of the stand that holds the body of the guitar rotates as it doesn't fit very tightly in the main post. This has posed no issue as once the guitar has been placed on this part and the neck is put in the cradle it always straightens itself out so it is level. I have been using this stand for about a month and haven't knocked it over or knocked the guitar off. For this price is is well worth it.

When vacant the Stagg is small and unobtrusive; when in use, it ornaments my beautiful guitar without obscuring it.
I bought myself a gorgeous Ernie Ball Music Man Luke guitar a few months back (my first guitar) so naturally I needed somewhere for it to live... Enter the Stagg SGA108BK. Not that I have a great deal of experience with this sort of equipment but from what I can see there are about three types if stand available on which to mount your guitar: The floor stand type that grabs the guitar's neck, the hang on the wall type (again, by the guitar's neck) or there's my preference, the below knee high A-frame type that cradles the body of the guitar (like this Stagg) so from a vanity standpoint there's nothing on the frame that will obscure the beautiful form of my guitar as it stands ornamented in the corner of the room when I'm not practicing. The two prongs that perform the task of holding the body of your guitar are coated in a flexi-foam like material; I can confirm that this does an adequate job of protecting your guitar from scratches at the lower contact points between your guitar and the frame. Also at the suggestion of another reviewer I stuck some sticky-backed foam (Armaflex) at the apex of the frame so that the third contact point of my guitar would also remain safe from the risk of marking or scratching.

Excellent !
I was very surprised to see how good this stand is considering it's price, it was the cheapest one on Amazon but certainly not the worst !Very sturdy and well made it has a spring loaded locking pin to allow the legs to be closed together and locked then there are three more locating holes to allow it to expand to fit any size instrument from a 'Beetle Bass' a Ukelele or Banjo right up to a full size acoustic guitar or anything in between. I have an ES339 semi-hollow body which I thought might be slightly too thick but it sits on it perfectly. The arms that support the guitar are plenty strong enough for the purpose and nicely padded with neoprene and do the job very well, the arms would not stand up to much more than 10 kilo's on them but they are not designed for that. I was half expecting the arms to swivel but they are fixed and flex very slightly which is a good thing. You would expect spend at least double to get this kind of quality, a real bargain that every guitarist should have,

Like it but ...
Bought this in February and really pleased with the look of it and it fits neatly into a small space whilst also displaying the guitar very nicely. However, now September and the cushioning where the guitar rests has split so have had to tape over it. For the price paid I suppose I can live with this. One further thing to look out for if ordering a Stagg Universal Stand - I decided to order another one soon after purchasing the first and clicked on the same product however it was a different supplier and they sent me a slightly different one which had a bar across the back and didn't look as sleek: if I hadn't already received the first one the different design would not have been so noticeable. As it was, in my opinion, an inferior design I returned the second one. The first one was supplied by Amazon direct.

Works well as a mandolin stand too!
I have been using a Stagg guitar stand for several years and have found it excellent, but only recently did I see Sam Bush using one for mandolin, so I reduced the height of my own stand and hey presto, it worked fine for mandolin too. I then ordered another so that I have one for each instrument. It is sturdy and steady and looks good.

Useful storage solution for a Banjo & case
I got one of these for my 5 string Banjo. The stand takes a Banjo on its own, when the legs are adjusted to their closest setting, but best of all when on it's widest setting, it holds a complete case with or without Banjo. The stand is solid, I have not tried standing on it, but it looks as though it would take my weight with ease.I imagine it would easily fit both the acoustic and electric guitars it is actually sold for. The 'arms' have various settings in them to allow them to clip safely to different widths for different size instruments. The stand can also fold flat allowing it to travel neatly. It could be put into a rucksack etc easily. It is quite light in weight, my bathroom scales don't register it! My Banjo in it's case weighs 10.3kgs, the stand is very stable carrying this weight. It is well made with a matt black paint job. It would not look out of place in any room or on any stage.
