Good price good product
Cheap and well made. Not for daily hard work but fine for a domestic garage workshop….. arrived promptly…

It arrived jammed.
So, it arived jammed. I removed the cover which has 4 screw holes but only had screws in 3. I unjammed the chain, greased the cogs and reassembled it. Now it worked and worked well. It lifted my landrover gearbox easily and I was able to control the lift and lowering safelly. Considering the low price, I am pleased with the hoist, I don't suppose a more expensive one would work any better. 5 stars if it had arrived in working order.

Great hoist
Great piece of kit. I used this to hoist very heavy double sided fence panels into place, when renewing my fence panels. Effortless lifts and brakes and holds. Do not try this if you are not savvy with ladders, forces and weight.

very very slow!!. No good for fences. probably brilliant at Slow but heavy lifting.
bought after seeing the review that showed a fence panel being lifted! exactly what I needed, however, be warned. This is excruciatingly slow. far to slow to be useful for this purpose. The Block and chain seem great and hopefully I'll have a use for it in the future, but the gearing ratio makes this almost useless for lifting a fence. it would take 15 minutes just to lift the thing a couple of feet. . Even preparing the chain length took longer than manually lifting the things would have taken. standard fence panel is 25kg, so a simple pulley would be more appropriate. (ladder and bracing was genius though)

good quality, very good value
I read all the reviews and thought I'd take a punt.Packaging was in good condition. On un-packing I took cover off to check mechanism. All bolts were adequately tightened and the mechanism was adequately greased.I read a review from France that said it was dangerous and the pin holding the lift hook had fallen out/failed.I checked all pins thoroughly and although there were no problems but I am not sure I would take this block to it's lifting limits. I always back up the hook with a 2500kg kevlar strop in case it fails. So far lifted 500kg repeatedly with ease. This block is not going to win any awards, but it is well made and exceptionally good value.I would recommend taking all the steps I took before first use to check it has been assembled correctly.

Useful and versatile
It is very practical and supports a lot of axial load but it gets stuck with radial loads.

Chain Hoist used for heavy fence panels
I had to lift and drop 10 heavy (47KG) fence panels on my own, lifting panels up 6ft, started with a cheap string pulley 6 to 1 mechanical advantage but still too hard to pull, string twisted and of course no brake so chose this beauty and wow did it work well. I believe the gearing gives 32 to 1, I could lift the panels with 2 fingers, very effective brake and gave lot of confidence. I used a ladder as a sky hook, ladder suitably held. Hoist not designed for this type of high up work so the pull chain had to be reached by me standing on stepladder, no drama though, very easy to pull up drop down with the brake working perfectly while positioning panel into the slots.
