Tonar Wet Goat Record Brush Review
It was said that Alexander The Great who was epileptic was blessed by the Gods for his affliction. Can it be said that a middle aged man cleaning a vinyl record with a goats hair brush to remove ground in dirt is blessed by the disease of buying vinyl records is blessed by the Gods mmmmmm I am not so sure. The brush is good there’s no doubt as it will get in to the grooves where dirt lurks. I have tried quite a few cleaning techniques believe you me including wood glue peel’s , microfibres clothes which are good but have a tendency to just push the dirt around. This might be the last piece in the puzzle. I use 20 percent isopropanol, 80 percent distilled water, a wetting agent to break surface tension ( dish washer rinse aid ) couple of drops and a similar amount of a liquid bio washer detergent. I tend to make about 30 mls of this solution up at a time. The debate of cleaning records is endless but if your record was not dirty you would not have to clean it in the first place. A dirty record with finger prints on it with static will attract dust which will then get stuck in the grooves when you play it. You have not option than but to deep clean. Wet cleaning will kill static when done properly and then just use polylined lined inner sleeves and carbon brushes before playing and after ensuring you earth the carbon fibre brush on the record player’s spindle and that should be the end of static. The goat’s hair brush should get deep in to the grooves where micro fibre clothe’s won’t . I use my cleaning solution first and move the brush first around the grooves of the record while it is lying flat on a micro fibre cloth. I am not spraying record cleaning solution on my turntable. Then I rinse the solution off using distilled water with the rinsed brush. Then finally dry the record off with a micro fibre cloth but be careful not to do it bone dry as you will build static up again. The technique seems very effective. If you are paranoid about using iso propanol then don’t but I have found it effective when diluted down for removing grease and finger marks but I always rinse it off. The bio liquid washer detergent enzyme activity will be denatured by alcohol so I might end up doing that separately but things start to get complicated ! It all depends what you are trying to clean off but for manual cleaning the goat brush can’t be beat even just with distilled water. The brush does tend to loose the odd hair as other people have noticed but I don’t have a problem with that. The only thing I can say is spin the goat !

Ultimate Effective Record Cleaner
Having tried endless ways to deep clean my large collection of records with poor results; I finally decided to go down the wet/dry route using a goat's hair brush. I decided to clean the worst offending record that always sounded as though it was being played with a very dirty stylus, (a low rumbling, lumpy sound and distortion at the higher end). The result after a 10 minute clean with some inexpensive cleaner and the Tonar Wet Clean Brush was nothing less than phenomenal! Why have I waited so long to find this genius concept? Since purchasing this product, I have cleaned approximately 15 old records , achieving the same outstanding results. The Tonar brush is one of the cheapest brushes I've seen on Amazon and I'm endorsing it as the best record cleaning product I have used in the last 40 years.

Goat to way to clean records, or at least it should be.
I have just started using this, and I am blown away. I have tried everything , apart from an automated cleaning machine, to clean crackling vinyl, this beats everything else I have tried by a mile, in fact so much so I am not understanding why it is not the goto method for all audiophiles.Totally brilliant, just generously wet the record on the turntable with cleaning fluid, lower brush into lp for a few revolutions, dry remaining fluid, = perfect vinyl playback. No brainer purchase.

Added vinyl cleaning capacity
To clean vinyl use a dry clean first with a dry clean microfibre cloth, then spray with wet deep clean solution -about 8 -10 bursts. Use the brush in circular motion to to spread the solution, add a few drops of distilled water... make sure the bristles penetrate grooves as much as possible, leave to penetrate a minute. Wipe off and then add a good few sprays of distilled water and wipe around again clean with a separate microfibre and dry for a few minutes on a stand. make sure your sleeves are poly lined and clean , and use microfibre antistatic cloths as a base when cleaning. Everyone has their own correct technique ....you can pay out for all sorts of machine, vacs etc or just get plenty of cloths, the goat brush , cleaner, water, stand and sprays !

I think the results are because of the tonar cleaner as well as the brush
Got this to go with my tonar cleanerWow this is very good brush realy cleans well no marks afterI spray the record then i go anti clock wise and clock wise with the brush you will start to notice the record lines coming though you dont have to be gentle but not very hardThen I like to use a large micro fiber towel under the record and a suede micro fiber for the top this one dries faster by dabbing the record then i will use the opposite side of the suede cloth to dry the rest of the record in a clock wise pattern you will notice the record starting to look 100% better once fully dry repeat using the opposite side of the large microfiber towel and a clean suede towelMake sure you dont get the paper part on the record wetI have noticed the cracks and pops have cleared quite a bit and sounds much better

Does the job well
I have a Moth rcm and the supplied brush soon becomes soft and floppy when wet and doesn’t really get deep into record grooves. Hence my purchase of this brush. It is certainly stiffer when wet and I feel it does the job better. My only critism is that the odd brush hair comes away whilst in use. It is certainly easier to grip whilst brushing and the handle is thin and plastic and in the event of it being accidentally dropped onto a record damage is unlikely to occur unlike the Moth brush which has a metal handle.

Great for applying cleaning fluid to records
Works well for applying record cleaning fluid. Carbon-fibre brushes are not suited for that, as you don't want them to get wet and soggy, you want to keep them dry for removal of dust and static prior to playing (remember to do both sides together, or you'll just send the static to the other side). Therefore, this brush - which stays stiff and gets down into the grooves nicely - is perfect for the job. Use this to apply the cleaning fluid, then use a microfibre cloth to dry the record afterwards. Job done! I've withheld a star because it does shed hairs quite often.
