Good buy
Yes, the reviews are mixed, but it’s a good value for the money. Sometimes you’ll get em with the blades a little bent, but bend em back into place and it works fine. The varying speeds are great and the battery lasts pretty long.

Poor directions, but a great product.
This fan is really beautiful and really extra. Lol. The gold is a lot for my simple taste however because the fan worked so well I will excuse the fact that it’s a bright gold fan. It moves air really well, the only drawback is that it’s a little bit noisier than I like my fans to be so this one definitely won’t be going in the bedroom for white noise. However in my family room it’s perfect. I do like the fact that it’s solar. I haven’t fully tested out the solar panel yet, my “green” friend took a look at it and was super impressed. So much so, he wanted to steal it from me. The directions are not good and you have to kind of do some figuring out in order to put it together. My suggestion is to read through the reviews as several people have done us a solid explaining their process for getting it put together with relative ease. If you’re a person who is outdoors a lot, lives in a warmer climate, and needs a fan that is solar powered this will work really well for you. Just make sure that you fully charge it before taking it outside to use the panel. I found that it won’t charge via the solar panel, however, once it’s fully charged; using the solar panel keeps it that way. My more green savvy friends tell me this is exactly how solar panels work so it’s not a defect with the fan it’s my lack of understanding of how solar works that had me stumped.

Glad to have after the rolling blackouts last heatwave
Had rolling blackouts for 5 days a couple weeks ago and the fans would go off for 30-60 seconds dozens of times throughout the afternoon and early eve, leaving suffocating stillness and a prayer. I plugged a fan into a portable battery generator for a bit until I saw how fast it was draining the power. I must've willed this product into being, having fantasized about just such an item and then there it was!The gold color is fantastic, although the material is pretty cheap and thin. The max blowing power is a couple notches better than mediocre, if it's just aimed at you it should be "good enough" even in a heatwave. Not too close though, because those Lithium batteries emit quite a powerful EMF magnetic field charge, I measured it and it was super strong but only right up next to it. I actually felt a little queasy standing above and crouching down on top of it to measure.Haven't gotten to test the solar charging yet, as it's now been overcast. But again, what a great option.Putting together took WAY longer than it should've - and it's not easy for hands with any tension/arthritis in them. There's a tiny screw and nut that go in the bottom and had to be squeezed just so to connect them, and then the nut is so tiny and kept falling. Even the bolts on the sides had to be jiggled and held and convinced to connect as they resisted. Usually I keep fans broken down in the boxes until needed and even though it's cool now I'm leaving it set up until it's obvious that summer's last gasp has passed. At least it's very pretty and can sorta pass for decor. Glad to have it, seems like appropriate value/$.

Documentation is lacking, but the product is great
The bad:This product comes with a sheet of paper that has assembly instructions on one side, and use instructions on the other. The assembly instructions are for the fan and they're enough to help you get the fan together with some intuition. There are no instructions on how to assemble the solar panel, which thankfully just seems that you need to attach the stand to. However, I still had one very tiny screw left, along with a very tiny screwdriver and small wrench like thing which they had also provided. What these things are for is a mystery to me.It also came with this thing that was labeled USB Cable, but it looks more like a plug. I also am uncertain what the purpose of this item is. There is a USB port on the back of the fan (for charging your mobile device). I plugged this plug looking thing into it, and it still wasn't apparent to me what it was for. Keeping dirt out of the port maybe? Another mystery. Whatever it is, it looks interesting. The good:This fan came with a charge. Once I got it assembled I was able to immediately turn it on. There are many setting strengths that can be used. On the highest setting it's not obnoxiously loud, but moves air well. It's not too big, but it's big enough. It also looks very nice.It can be solar charged, or charged with wall outlet, and both are provided. The solar panel is a good size, and easy to plug in. When I plugged it in, the display on the back of the fan indicated that it was charging. The battery symbol had a charging animation, and the outline around the battery icon even animated. For me, the good outweighs the bad. The documentation is lacking, but I like the fan a lot.UPDATE: Originally I gave this product a 4 star rating because of the lack of documentation. Today I had a power outage from 7:30pm - 10pm. I can't tell you how happy I was to have this fan (and that I had just charged it up yesterday). It gets so hot and stuffy in my place here (arid desert). As soon as the power went out I got out my solar lanterns, got some light, and then immediately got out this fan. I propped open the door and set the fan so it would pull cooler air into my place, and this thing went like a trooper the whole 2.5 hours without any signs of getting weaker. I had it on power level 10. I think it would keep running longer, but thankfully the electricity came back on. This fan is really great!

Easy to assemble, with one small exception. This fan quietly moves a lot of air.
This fan arrived fully charged. Included are an AC charging block and cord as well as the solar panel with its cord. Because it came fully charged, I haven't hooked up the solar panel, yet, but am going on the assumption that it works. The fan comes with front and back mesh parts separate, as well as the base. Putting the front and back mesh parts together consisted of lining up a small hole near the bottom of the cover (front and back), installing a small bolt and then pushing closed the several clamps around the circumference of the fan shroud. Then, mounting the fan shroud to the base and tightening the large knobs to hold it in place and the job was finished. All went well -- except-- I could not get the bolt aligned right to screw it into the accompanying small nut. After failing several tries, I found, while the bolt and nut were the same size, they had incompatible thread patterns. Luckily, I keep a stock of screws, nuts and bolts on hand. After I found a small nut and bolt combination of the same size, I was done. The fan always starts up in the highest speed setting (12). From there, speed is adjusted using the panel on the back of the fan. There is no remote, but that isn't a big concern. It seems everything has remotes and keeping them all together with their associated appliances is a chore. This is simpler. At any rate, touching the (-) button lowers the speed with each touch. Turned all the way down to (1), the fan was still moving enough air that my wife could feel the air flow about ten feet away. Even at the highest setting (12), the fan, while far from silent, is not obnoxiously noisy. At lower speeds, it is very nearly silent. Two of my photos show the included light that plugs into the USB outlet on the back. The light will come on any time the fan is running. If you don't want or need the light, simply unplug it from the USB port.We have tried lots of fans this hot summer, in many different configurations. This one blows the rest away (pardon the pun -- couldn't resist). It moves more air, operates quietly, is absolutely stable and looks great. The addition of solar power makes it all just that much better. My wife will be using this outside at a potting bench, so the solar panels are perfect -- and the fan won't suddenly run out of battery power just when most needed.
