Seems genuine
Like most of you I was put off a bit by claims of counterfeit batteries. The most helpful review at the time of purchase refers to a counterfeit. I decided that I would order and look for the tell-tale signs as mentioned in the reviews. On arrival the first thing I noticed was that the battery was noticeably heavy. That's a good thing! I decided to confirm the weight and it seems to tally up with the checkpoint for a genuine article. Everything about it looks and feels genuine. Camera recognised instantly and seems to have held a charge. I will be putting it to work and provided there is no apparent difference between this and the one that accompanied my camera, I will probably buy a third. I think video and the need to use live view for this, necessitates more batteries. And at the price paid I really cannot complain. I will update this review if things go pear shaped in next month or so but so far I'm happy. The supplier in my case was Amazing Offers, fulfilled through Amazon. I have no idea if the alleged counterfeits are constrained to specific suppliers or picked form a common stock and I was lucky. But the weight and feel of the one I was supplied left me with no doubt.

Genuine Battery - from Plus Digital
Purchased a genuine Nikon battery in the past few days from the seller above (Plus Digital). Delivery was fulfilled by Amazon and with Prime, arrived next day.Completely genuine Nikon battery, I used the following checks (comparing with the EN-EL15 battery that came with my new Nikon D7100):1) Battery box was well made, had a circular Nikon hologram that looked genuine.2) Battery had the same plastic cover for the battery terminals, with the "caution" sticker.3) The hologram on the battery was cut perfectly, aligned the same way as D7100 battery, and had 4 small slits. Hologram also looked the same.4) Above the hologram the battery said Sony E D rather than Nikon, this is because many Nikon EN-EL15 batteries are made by Sony.5) At the battery terminal there is a very small 'A' stamped into the side, this is another check for genuine batteries.I did not have the need to weigh the battery, but I am certain it is identical, works perfectly inside the D7100.5 stars and substantially cheaper than buying from the high street. Absolutely necessary purchase
It's an official Nikon battery. It will last at least a full day, which is what you need for a spare.I've marked it down 1 star because a spare battery is simply an essential part of any kit and ALL camera batteries are expensive enough that they really need to be included as part of your budget when buying new camera gear (as opposed to just chucking one on at the end as an after thought!).

Worth the money!
Having had several cheap aftermarket / knock - off batteries for my d750 and d7000 before that I was very much impressed with these.Pros:- holds charge very well (I don't leave batteries in camera when not in use)- charge quickly- work well across several nikon cameras and battery grips- appear to be genuine (I have been fooled before so have learnt the difference out of bitter necessity)Con's:- take a few cycles to reach full capacity and run out quickly for the first few charges- don't come fully charged (I bought mine ahead of a big shoot and ended up with less shooting time as a result) - plan ahead! Can't beat nikon's own!

Not one of the bad ones
Hard to find this battery but a needed one to take as a backup on holiday. Certain of these batteries were recalled by Nikon due to overheating and they have issued the serial numbers of those affected. But this battery was not one of those I am glad to say. Other than that it's a battery, it fits the camera fine [I read somewhere that some were oversize], it's not cheap but it's a Nikon.

perfect?
As far as I can see, this battery which I recently bought from C-Gear (thru' Amazon), at about 1/2 the Nikon RRP, seems identical to the one which originally came with my D7000. They both weigh exactly the same (87 grams), the printing, hologram, stickers and plastic end caps look the same, and the box & packaging looks the same. The battery described here took the same amount of time to charge as the original, and my camera recognises that the battery is fully charged and "new". They are both marked as Nikon EN-EL15 7.0V 1900mAh 14 Wh. I believe this to be a genuine Nikon battery, and will most likely order another one at some point. Neither batch number falls within the recall batches. The only one minor difference is, that above the hologram, my first battery is marked as Nikon 7.0V 1.90Ah next to the PSE symbol. This replacement is marked as Sony E.D 7.0V 1.90Ah next to the PSE symbol. As some previous reviewers have remarked, some of these batteries are marked as Nikon & Sony. There is probably some kind of joint deal going on here (does anyone know if this size battery also fits any Sony equipment?), but anyway, whether it's Sony or Nikon who oversee the production of these, I'm not worried about any quality issues. They are BOTH marked "Cell made in Japan, further processed in China. Nikon Corp, Japan"I have every expectation that this battery will perform just like the first one which came with the camera, but I'll report back here if there are any problems.
