Beko Fan Oven/Cooker Heater Element (1800W)

Although most of the reviews for this product were positive, there were enough negative reviews to leave me feeling nervous about my purchase. There were suggestions that the product is the wrong size, or it came in basic packaging, or it didn’t work once fitted. Indeed, I was worried my days of eating properly cooked hot food straight from the oven were in the past. However, sitting here contented with a belly full of glorious food, I can safely say that this product is exactly what was needed. So, I can only give this product no less than the 5 stars it merits. Fitting it was easy - so easy in fact, I managed it on an empty stomach. My concerns about it being the wrong size were buried when comparing old (albeit warped from burnout - the element, not me, but that’s another story) with new. A perfect match. Once fitted, any lingering doubts about size issues were immediately dispelled when I successfully spun the fan a full 360 degrees without even approaching any form of contact. So, true, the packaging was very basic, but that’s fine by me. We use too much redundant packaging in our lives anyway, so this was ideal given it made no difference to the quality of last night’s dinner. I stand by my verdict, this product arrived safely and intact, fitted easily, and works as expected.

Great price and does the job fitting was easy but required the back of the oven to be taken off so had to pull the inbuilt cooker out of the unit, but easy enough.

I bought this heating element after my last one decided to blow one evening. It was simple to change and worked straight away. Simply disconnect the oven from power, remove the back cover, disconnect the power paddles and securing screws and swap over. Couldn’t be happier. Just remember to turn it on full heat and leave it for some time to burn off any factory coatings/chemical residues before actually using it to cook with. There are plenty of videos on YouTube for different ovens and models, so just have a quick look and you’ll be fine.

The main oven on our Beko (ODF21300) stopped heating and I was tempted to buy another one (£219). Then I did a little digging on-line and YouTube presented a plethora of DIY videos aimed at changing the oven element which general consensus seemed to suggest my problem was. I was a bit reticent but decided to give it a go. The element ranged from £40 down to £7 approx. (Trying to get an electrician to do the job about £150). The suppliers had lists of appropriate ovens for the element in question so I picked the correct one and took delivery 3 days later. Armed with little more than one Phillips screwdriver, I switch off the power to the appliance, removed about 10 screws and within half an hour I had put the new element in, all the screws were back and I was delighted to have a nicely heating oven (the old element had snapped). It's an incredibly satisfying feeling and with Christmas approaching having an extra £200 is certainly welcome. I'm so glad I overcame the fear I think most newbies have around such jobs. Just to re-iterate, the whole job was completed with one screwdriver and just the knowledge from YouTube. You CAN do it yourself !!!
