Works like it should and at a great price
The dvd drive itself is slim and portable the way it should be. I bought this for use with my laptop which doesn't have a dvd drive built in. I haven't used it for writing yet but the read speed is very good and has worked with both cd's and dvd's so far. not compatible with Mac OSX el capitan...?
Unfortunately this drive is not fully compatible with Mac OSX el capitan or later and it will not burn double layer disks - I tried three brands and all failed. Drive error message suggested to try slower speeds and that didn't work either; and says it's not compatible with the disks. Finding a reliable Mac OSX compatible usb 3.0 burner is not easy... Prior to returning the drive I did test the same brand disks on two other different brands of dvd burner. The worked perfectly; I could burn to the double layer disks with no problems.

Amazing value for money
Great piece of equipment! I bought this to use with my MackBook Air and it's perfect. Just plug in the usb connector and away you go. No extra software needed. The blue light is also the eject button. Very fast, no noise once the disc is loaded. Haven't tried burning anything to it yet but did export some music to my iTunes and again...perfect. Slim and very portable. If you're looking for ease of use, this is for you. Highly recommend this external drive.....great value for the price

Excellent value good performance
Reasonable build quality. Plug and play with Windows 10 works perfectly. Very very quiet operation and good read speed. Very light and portable.

Lovely bit of kit, bit hard to set up
I am using mine with a Lenovo Ideapad Miix 310. It needed an external power source - I used my Amazon Fire Kindle charger. Once it was plugged into the mains on the power cord and USB to the PC it was recognised and started to connect. Could really do with proper instructions! One set up it works a treat, managed to burn a CD and install Microsoft Office through it.

Meh! Not a great CD DVD Drive, rated 2
I bought this CD/DVD drive some weeks ago after I lost/mislaid my old drive, based on the description and ratings it seemed like a good top end of the range product. First of all the build of this External CD DVD Drive is solid, but it could be a bit more slimline. This external CD DVD is quite noisy, much more so than my old drive. On the whole it works ok, I keep my music collection on iTunes and use the drive to upload CDs, it does sometimes need connecting and reconnecting to the USB on my computer (a top of the range Dell XPS) in order for it to work. The touch control to eject the CD is also a bit hit and miss, sometimes the CD/DVD will eject, sometimes it needs a little coaxing. Delivery was fine and timely. So overall, I have rated this as a 2, a bit of a “Meh!”, it is not the best DVD CD drive. As I’ve had it a few weeks, do not use it that often, it is too late to return it, it just about works so I’ll keep it and hope that my old CD/DVD drive shows up. I would not rate this product very highly, there are much better out there.
