The Veemagni magnifying light came with a metal clamping stand that seemed sturdier and hopefully more fracture resistant compared to models made with plastic clamps. The 5"D magnifying glass might sound like it's slightly larger than a 4.3"D lens, however it provides about 35% greater area which makes it easier to see things with both eyes without shifting your head. The dual 16" folding arms were used to reach above and behind my sewing machine.

I was hesitant to buy this as it had a lot of reviews from people who got it for free since that adds personal bias. With free return in mind, I gave it a shot and I am glad I did.So far, I have replaced batteries on 3 Movado watches. The jewelry shop used to charge me $35 each. I have already recovered my investment by doing it myself. There was no way I could work on these watches without this glass.The glass works really well, and the light feature is icing on the cake. The maneuvering of arms and glass are flawless. Both sides of the clamp have no-mar material to avoid any scratches when securing the base.The shipment was quick, product came well packaged, overall quality seems sturdy.I am happy with the product so far and will update review for longevity.

Worked great for 30 seconds then it shut itself off. This happened many times. So I changed the adapter for the 110 to 5 v usb adapter then everything works fine.Really like the magnifier and the lite cam be changed for different modes. Does exactly what I need.

I'm so pleased with this. I do detail art pottery and had been wearing a headset magnifier with light, but I was so tired of the nose piece, the weight on my head and taking it on and off constantly. Now I just aim the magnifier as I want, and I feel I have more freedom. I only use the light on the brightest setting and that's good for my work. It has real glass in the magnifier and I'm very pleased with the vision quality and magnification strength. I'm fortunate to have a pull out work surface on the side of my desk and it clamps on there perfectly. I'd have trouble otherwise as there's only an inch overhang on my desk and that wouldn't be enough to clamp onto. The length it can extend to is excellent.

Good quality and easy to assemble. Light could be brighter, but is adequate. Several color temperatures as well as good extension range of arm. Magnifying glass was bigger than I had imagined. Would buy again.

Worked well for 18 months, then the light started to flicker.The magnifier size and quality is very good, as is the reach of the arm.

Quite sturdy, I am delighted with this purchase, very bright 10x mag is plenty to work on DCC trains and electronics, stays where you put it, I love the many light settings.

The magnifying glass is clear enough for typical uses. The arm moves easily. The controls are easy to reach and use. It clamped well to my desk. I do wish the clamp would be a bit heavier gauge metal, but it is good enough.The adjustable light hues are very useful. I didn't think I'd use them, but I do. The brightness settings are helpful to me as well.

The multiple angles, nice bright light and the magnification are perfect. I fixed a tangled anklet chain. This made it so easy to see what I was doing. I bought it for making bracelets but can see it will come in handy for many things.

Pros:- Bright- Adjustable hue- The controls are very conveniently located next to the lens and not the wire- A sturdy clamp, big enough to mount properly- The lamp is big enough to have a convenient reach.- Doesn't get hot at all.Cons:- Really can't think of any, and it's especially cool considering what a trainwreck the smaller version of this lamp is.

I bought this to use while soldering, and to replace a lamp that uses a standard bulb. I was sceptical about the claim of 8x magnification (this is very high for a single lens/magnifying glass). Overall, I'm happy with the lamp. It is not as bright as the lamp it is replacing, equipped with a standard 8.5W ("60W replacement") LED bulb. It is also nowhere near 8x (see photo). It's a bit less than 2x. I also estimated the focal length of the lens by measuring the image distance of a (relatively) distant light source. It's between 30 and 35 cm, which corresponds to a magnification of around 1.8x (M=(25cm+f)/f, where f is the focal length in cm). It very usable, but I was hoping for higher magnification. It seems that all of the magnifying lamps on Amazon similarly overestimate their magnifications. I noticed that a similar lamp from Lee Valley claims 1.75x, which is much more reasonable for a single lens (although at a much higher price!). I would buy this again, but I wish the specs were more accurate!

I bought this lamp following the purchase of another magnifying lamp that was a terrible product: the plastic base AND clamp couldn't hold the weight of the lamp.I was cautiously optimistic about this here lamp, simply because most of the time, the same item is listed under different names or brand. I was so happy when I unpacted the lamp and immediately noticed the steel clamp for a base and not a cheap piece of plastic. That alone and the extra long arms are enough for a 5 STAR rating. The controls are directly on the head of the lamp, which makes accessibility easier (in my opinion) and it gets really bright.I use this magnifying lamp to paint miniatures and I'm really happy with my purchase!
