The Wealth of Nations is an essential reading for those interested in economics, politics and International Relations.

One of the best books I've read. Great read and even entertaining, despite it being about economics.

If your interested in economics and how governments, culture and institutions effect the economy then it’s a must read

Language is much more 'Jane Austen' than I was expecting. Many points are re-stated from different perspectives with different evidence but can be skipped over (most of the 2nd 50% of the book can be flipped through)Crucially: Smith cuts straight to the core and clarifies the issues that have confused decision makers prior to his writings. The amazing thing is that the general public, the media and politicians are still confused by it! They should all read Wealth of Nations.

so son is studying economics. i brought this book for him. His happeness knew no depths. He is using it as a door stop at present

It would be difficult not to give this classic text a five star rating! Still essential reference work for those wishing to understand the development of economic theory as well as today's world.

Must read if planning to or currently pursuing economics

Merece ser lido e não apenas mencionado. É intrigante que um livro do século XVIII ainda consiga nortear grandes questões econômicas com razoável nível de acerto! E o mais importante: deixou muito claro o desacerto das teses econômicas de Marx, porque, quase um século antes, já destacava a importância do consumidor, algo que Marx desprezava, pois tudo se resumia ao trabalho (operário) e capital (burguês). A liberdade econômica "salvou" a humanidade das armadilhas horrendas dos monopólios, não como ideia, mas como dado empírico, aliás, sobejamente comprovado no livro.

Si te gusta la economía, la política o algo relacionado, esta lectura es indispensable. De aquí nació la economía como la conocemos y el liberalismo clásico. Muchas cosas que Smith postula en el libro, se mantienen vigentes a más de dos siglos de haber sido escrito.

Wow. What good book... lengthy, but great information. So helpful to have this viewpoint that our founding fathers would have had in their hands as well. I'm still working through it, but even the first couple pages provide valuable insight. Well worth the purchase and reading.
