I couldn’t ask for a better product
This is my first foray into water based finishing products. I picked this up along with sanding sealer and grain filler from this same manufacturer. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the results. I followed every single step to the letter, and my results were beautiful.High gloss, smooth finish. Also, this stuff didn’t leave my tiny paint area smelling like a backroom nail salon either. Low VOC, goes on so easily with brush, rag or spray. However I strongly strongly advise getting an HVLP spray gun for this. It brushes on nicely and sands easily, but I’ve noticed better results using it straight from the container in a spray gun. It’s also self leveling and runs are easily contained. Just remember, as with all finishing products, many light coats are supremely better than heavy coats. Take your time, follow the directions, and your results will be beautiful. The pics included show results of it being brushed on. My other project with the spray finish is still curing so no pics there yet. But spraying is the way to go. Again, take your time and follow the steps as directed. Your results can be exactly what you want.

Customer Service
Okay, I don't do this often but it seems that when things go right a person should say so - not just when they go wrong.I am working on several guitars and had some problems with the finish running after I applied it. I was brushing it on and was looking for a way to cure it just a little faster. So I contacted the company through their web site. Within 12 hours the president of the company, Brian Barry contacted me by email asking that I call him. I didn't get to it right away and it slipped my mind. Later that day, I received another email asking that I call him to talk about the product. SO, I did and Barry and I had a great conversation about application, about how temperatures will affect the drying/curing time along with humidity, and how it differs from other non-water based lacquers. (We were receiving a lot of rain so the humidity was high.) I was impressed that he knew his product inside and out. I received a pretty good education on how Aquacoat builds and the high solid content of the product.I have to say that I have never had the president of a company contact me - not once but twice - to talk about a problem I was having. This is what customer support is supposed to look like. You don't see it much now days. And yes, the finish is looking great and I will continue to use it. I will also use their sanding sealer and pore filler in the future.Ron Tucker

Applies great with a foam brush leaving no brush marks, dries quick and very little odor.

Great clear gloss finish
I have used this on a couple of projects so far. It sprays on very nicely, high gloss finish with reasonable drying time.

AQUA COAT Clear Lacquer, Water-Based Wood Finish (Gloss)
I normally don't write a review. This product takes lot longer than 3 to 4 hours to dry. I brushed in on my project and it took 16 hours and still not completely dry. I tried to contact the company but no response. It also creates little bubbles which I am trying to get ride of by sanding.
